Back in the good (bad) ol' days we tried a lot of stuff that would make the current generation of cheerleaders freak. Mind you, I watch the level of tumbling and the speed of today's routines and sometimes wish for the slower paced routines of yesteryear just so I can catch my breath. Only sometimes mind you, things overall are better now.

So we played with the idea of using 6 bases for launching basket tosses. If you can't picture it, have the three main bases interlock grips and then have the other three coming in as 'rockets' from between them. Now, add two flyers and another four catchers in two groups positioned some 12' away and behind the flyers. Set. Throw. And you have two flyers launched backwards, over their respective third's ('rocket') heads into a blind cradle by two bases. We even did it with 3 flyers but the significant drop in height and distance on the toss made that a no-go. Oh, and all of this was done outside on grass.

And yes, we even considered the 'fly-by' high five of two basket tosses thrown toward each other but figured that was just too stupid even to attempt.

Throwing a single flyer in a 6-man basket was also pulled as a valid idea because we already got a ton of height with just 3 guys throwing (or in some cases even just two guys and a girl as the third, we had to make do with just the two partner pairs for each basket toss during games). The insane height you get looks great but the problem comes in at the cradle. Force applied to send her up must be counteracted to bring her down. So for the 6 guys who launched her up there, 2 guys have to pretty much take the brunt of dissipating all that energy when cushioning her landing.

As for the rest of the rules... I'm an old horse and just really interested in the Level 6 limitations/expansions. Anyone have any idea how long we might be waiting for those? Ballpark? Days, weeks, months?

The level 6 rules are not out because, I believe, they are coordinating with the ICU to avoid... discrepancies between the two organizations.

I have no idea on time frame though.

Makes sense though. I think everything but the scoresheets should match (well I think those should match to, but eh). I wonder if they will do 12 boys on the floor for ICU to make the whole thing more cost effective?

What is interesting about 12 instead of 13,14,15, or 16 boys is all the building parts get a LOT harder 3 less people for shoulder stands, to throw baskets, and to side spot stunts. It will make all the ICU stuff look a bit different. I am curious to watch.

For the release moves in level 4 what is nice by making them illegal is they make them true level 5 skills.

Yes there will definitely be a shift in the skills performed.
In the short term I feel it may hinder some of the international team (think Thailand)
HOWEVER... in the longer run it will strengthen these foreign teams and make the eventual transition from placing well in the ICU worlds to placing well in the IASF Worlds much easier.

Actually, it will be even harder for the US. When you have to put forth more boys to the building skills it means you have less boys who can tumble.

Great point. I had not considered this.
Kinda glad to see this. I am a big fan of all around cheerleaders, not specialists.

So who can muster up the best all around males will win this division?

Side thought: This may also make females the more often "highlighted" tumblers because in all honesty a 100 lb girl is more likely to have an amazing specialty pass than your traditional partner stunt males.

So you can do baby 360 ball ups at level 3 as long as they don't pass through the extended position? You can really creative with that if you have very tall bases and a small flyer....
Glad to see everyone is getting on board with making level 6 and ICU rules consistent!
Still muddling through the rest...hopefully someone can post a dumbed down version for us cheer parents!

The way I'm reading stunts for Level 3, you can't do a baby 360 ball-up since you're restricted to a single skill/trick.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not because it advantages guys who aren't beast tumblers BUT they must be good stunters which disadvantages smaller guys who don't build muscle as easily :confused:

I'm not understanding this assisted tumbling thing? Spotting another teammate on a standing full, but getting a really bad score for those standing fulls? Whhhaattt, this doesn't make sense.

yeah, they're one piece, but "flimsier" than an nfinity, but not by much. that being said i'm not supporting making them legal...they shouldn't be worn by flyers for sure (IMHO). and they certainly wouldn't protect your foot if it were to be stepped on/landed on.

You can roll nfinitys up into a ball, and you can do the same with these. They are actually made for running outdoors so they do have a pretty thick sole. However I agree that they should definitely NOT be worn by flyers.
