ahhh! I could watch bar routines all day long. I love the fluidity of a good bar routine!

p.s. Check out the men's team sitting in second place after qualifications! Where did that come from!? Go USA!

also, this sounds really rude, but I think gymnasts these days should be slightly embarrassed that a 14.5 - 15.0 is impressive on bars now.. the top 4 scores from Beijing (correct me if I'm wrong) were no less than 16.3, and THOSE were considered impressive routines, yet only one (maybe 2) gymnasts could even dream of those scores these days (not counting Nastia)

I would agree with you, but the code of points has changed since then. It was lowered to where 15s are now the higher scores and a 16 is outstanding. Similar to the change of COP from 2005 to 2006 where there became no perfect 10.0s, the code changed in 2009 for the new quadrennium (09-12), to lower the amount of skills and difficulty in routines, adding more compulsory skills. Which would be why more girls are throwing double tucks and double pikes on floor rather than all of the crazy tumbling passes of 2008. It isn't embarrassing on behalf of the gymnasts, but rather a different scoring code. You'll notice the drop in scores from 2008 to 2009 if you watch the Covergirl Classic of '09. They even explain the change in code during that competition, I believe the announcers did.

Hope that was helpful. :)

It is also why more gymnasts dance out of tumbling now, because that is worth more bonus. For example, Aly Raisman's split jump out of her piked double arabian.

Gooooooood morning, to any of you who are awake. I said I would do updates, so here we go. The live stream is up and march-in just started! I'm so excited! Russia in teal and black leos, and I heard CEA music when I saw them hahaha. USA in red, with white sleeves and blue/red ribbon stripes down the arms. One touch warmups are almost done, then we're set.

Vault - Aly Raisman USA - GREAT Double twisting yurchenko (DTY here on out), looks like it was stuck, perfect form in the air. She gets a 14.95 Solid start!

Bars - Jinnan Yao CHN - great form transitioning low to high and back in pak, beautiful pirouetting on the high bar and tkatchev, stuck dismount.

Vt - Jordyn Wieber USA - STUCK AMANAR!!!!! YES! Good form too, just a little leg separation off the table. Gets a 15.833!!!
