Maryland Marlins Vortex Smoed Level 5
I have videos of Tsunami but I they've convinced me not to post it and to just let the cheer world starve and crave their performance at The Majors :)

I have a question. Although majority has now been figured out to be 5, is there a reward for having every group possible doing something? For example, a large coed team hitting 12 stunts, 3 body positions, and doubling down (I mention doubling down here, because the actual number of possible groups is 18, which would be illegal to double down from) would get rewarded more than a large coed doing "all girl" groups? If that makes sense. I don't mean to call out teams, but say for example Cheer Extreme didn't have that 14 group (10 actually tossing without assistance) toss hands, press lib, or whatever they do, and they only had their 9 group sequence. Although their 9 group sequence is more difficult than, let's say, a 12 group sequence Top Gun does, is Top Gun rewarded more than Cheer Extreme? Or would it even have an effect? (I apologize if this makes no sense)

There are certain times that gym owners/coaches/etc. need to get over this whole fascination with going to Worlds and enter divisions their teams should be in. This team screams a pretty good senior restricted 5 to me. Not saying that the only reason this team was created was to send more people to Worlds, but I see more and more gyms these days that just want to have that level 5 and go to Worlds and say that they competed at Worlds when they are MUCH better suited in senior restricted 5.

I have to agree. The routine was good but it seemed like a restricted level 5 routine instead of a worlds level team. I will say though that their stunts were great they just really lacked the tumbling IMO. Wasn't this team in the SO5 division the past few seasons?

Did Marlins end up forming their Small Senior team like planned? If so does anyone know when they will start competeing?

Yeah when I saw like... half the team not jump to back, I turned it off. I hate to say that I'm someone that cannot stand watching a level 5 routine that can barely pull off the minimum level 5 skills.

Yes Maryland Marlins Vortex was a Senior Open 5 team for 2 years. And I agree with both of your post. I believe they wanted to go small coed because of the number of bos they had on the team. In my opinion I think they're doing it to get theirselves more out there, in order to expend their gym. Who knows maybe in 3 or 5 years this team could be competing in Medium or Large Senior Coed, there's a possibility. But hey unless your God, nobody knows what will happen in the future.

Um I definitely agree with chyeeaaa69 (btw your name is so annoying to type out).

That last pass came out of nowhere, I kept on expecting her to fall, I have no idea how she finished that pass.

According to a few other athletes pages I've seen, they are forming a Small all-girl team. Which I think will be full of crossovers from Tsunami, Vortex, and Riptide. If you ask me, I think they shouldn't add another team. It'll just tire out the girls that will be crossovers which will cause them to not perform their best. From what I'm reading, there was a gym that had their entire level 5 team quit and so there were athletes that were considering going to Marlins or either making it their second stop in the search of great level teams in Maryland sice another gym might already have full teams ;) . In all honesty, Marlins shouldn't waste their time in rushing to throw in another level 5 team, just so they can get a bid to worlds, which I doubt they will. They should stick with the team they have now, better their senior coed team, so they could actually have a chance at getting a bid and focus on making sure Tsunami is promt to give the performance of their lives. Because the performances I've been seeing from them aren't that great, they're routine has looked like something a youth level 3 team could do, honestly.

They posted on their twitter and website a few months ago that they had intererst in forming one but I didn't think it would be crossovers because I assumed it would be a worlds team. Not sure what the point of forming a team this late in the season if it is full of athletes that are already on a worlds team. I hope that they can form a small senior team because I honestly miss seeing Tsunami in that division.

The difference being that Tsunami was actually really good in that division. I hear this all the time. "I really hope _______ makes a small coed team, I really loved seeing ______ in that division" when the reality is that unless it's at a huge gym like Cheer Athletics, Rays, Cheer Extreme, etc. chances are they aren't going to be THAT good.

Exactly. With what I've seen Tsunami competing, I think they would be better off as a small senior team. And correct me if I'm wrong but didn't USAF create a new rule for this season that stated that crossovers weren't allowed at World?
