My Facebook exploded with the news that Wilmington won Small Coed DII and Partner Stunt. Just checked Varsity... All I can say is WOW. What an

"Shortly after the conclusion of the 2014 UCA/UDA College Cheerleading and
Dance Team National Championship, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports
January 17–19, it came to our attention that Small Coed Division II team
Columbus State University had violated our guidelines for eligibility.

Because of this, we have had to disqualify Columbus State University, making
the team ineligible for its first place standings in Small Coed Division II and Coed
Partner Stunts.

As a result, the 2014 championship title and first place honors for Small Coed
Division II has been awarded to Wilmington University, and the Coed Partner
Stunt honors was awarded to the partner stunt couple from Wilmington
University, Ariel and David.

Final rankings for Small Coed Division II are now as follows:
1. Wilmington University
2. University of Southern Indiana
3. Colorado Mesa University
4. Midwestern State University

Final rankings for 2014 College Cheerleading Championship Coed Partner Stunt

Wilmington University."

CSU had an athlete that had cheered too many years. From what I understand athletes can only cheer 5 years and they had one on his 6th year.

Does this mean that Columbus State University is prohibited from competing at next year's UCA College Nationals?

I'm not sure. I do remember something like this happening my freshman or sophomore year of college (2009 or 2010) but I can't remember who it was and what happened to them.

Stinks that Wilmington didn't get their moment of celebration when they heard there name called as the national champions.
