i do understand the concern, and i get it comes from a good place but to put a sense of fear into any girl athlete on wearing white, is a little too much for me. White CAN be done appropriately, does it tend to happen a lot well no imo, but it can and has been done right in the past.
I agree with this but I don’t.
I love a white uni. They pop against the mat and look expensive (fun fact: in fashion, white clothing is seen as expensive and lux because the implication is if you’re wearing white — a color that can and does show dirt easily — you can afford to replace it).
That said, I will say that Panthers shorts bother me because the fabric is thin and shiny and aggressively hints at crack. 12 y/o crack. They might as well be cheering in dripping wet bikini bottoms. Meanwhile the SE skirts are clearly made of a more durable fabric that keeps everyone covered.
THAT said, I’m not sure dressing kids in white leos “infantalizes” them or strips them of their identity. I don’t think the creeps are thinking in those cerebral terms. I think they’re just looking for the easiest way to exploit a kid, and white uni — if not done correctly — is the best way to do that.
