MAGGIE NICHOLS <3

devastated for Brenna.

Maggie has grown on me a lot this meet. And I love that she smiles during her floor routine. I feel like all of our gymnasts look so concentrated that they don't look like they're enjoying themselves.

Brenna really messed up - gosh - I feel bad. Then even w/ the fall on beam Gabby edged out Aly - Gabby much cleaner of a gymnast so I think she deserves it. Wonder if Maggie would have made the AA had she been given the opportunity - her vault was really good.

I was originally bitter when I saw Marta didn't have Maggie competing all events... and now I'm twice as bitter because if they let her compete all around she only would have needed a 12.something on bars to outscore gabby.

I'm in the minority of this thread apparently, but I love her. I love her lines.

Nope I'm with you. Maggie Nichols for life

Brenna :( I think she just got wrapped up in her own head.

She'll do better in the final.
I don't think she'll be competing in the Team Final after a routine like that. So sad for her, but at least the front doube pike is now the Dowell.

Maggie Nichols was great today. Maybe they'll put her up in TFs over Brenna

I like Maggie too - she's a good all around gymnast - and I strongly prefer her style over the others. However, I still think our entire team needs to take ballet classes. The difference between our technique and someone like Komova is just so extreme - we definitely got the power and difficulty to make up for it, but still.

eh, she's got two days to figure her life out. Guess we'll have to see.

Simone kinda has her own style which I love, it's a lot more 'upbeat' as opposed to balletic so it works for her. The rest of them..I swallowed it back during last Olympics because Aly made finals but seriously. No.

Kinda glad I was at work and missed all this nonsense.

I feel like I'm the only one here who also follows the men's events, hahaha...
1st subdivision over, team GB is looking solid. However, Whitlock's high bar performance has potentially costed him a spot in the all-around finals. Among team GB, he's tied in 2nd with his teammate, Wilson, for all-around and only one of them will get to proceed... does anyone know what the tie-breaker is?

2nd subdivision happening now, SO HAPPY to see Nguyen from Germany competing after tearing his ACL. Also, Russians on vault... Abliazin is BOSS. And my goodness, Swiss with an average score of 15.2 on parallel bars.

... and this is why I find the men's events more exciting, the field just seems more equal as appose to one country/team leading by a number of whole points.

I enjoy the men's events- it's just that if the US aren't competing/competing WELL we tend not to get as much video of them. I like how the women end with a flourish and the guys are like 'oh thank goodness I'm alive.'

Haha... this statement cannot be more true. Some of these D scores scare me... 6.7? 6.9? I suppose higher risk in hopes of higher rewards. I do pray for the safety of these men, because I've seen enough world champions from previous Worlds end up not even making it into finals. This is as a result of adding too much difficulty they couldn't quite handle and botching it during the qualification round.

Just as I predicted...Simone and Gabby for AA. Too bad for Aly since I was also rooting for her to be in AA. Goodness what's with these disasters happening one after another?! I hope everybody pulls it together in AA and EF to give USA some good competition :D

Hindsight in 20/20 on having Maggie on bars in the AA. Because Brenna is SO GOOD on bars....when she hits the routine. Which she did all week up to that moment. I'm extra bitter too now because Maggie would absolutely medal and it's a little more of a question mark with Gabby, but it is what it is at this point.

As for Brenna on floor, you get the green light and have a certain number of seconds to begin your routine. Her time was almost up and she was cutting into her routine time. (Even though it clearly wasn't her fault, no idea if they actually would have deducted for that.) She said she heard Marta telling her to "go, go, go", so she just went.

Also interesting to note: While this was a pretty sketchy qualifying in general for USA, they still outscored the 2014 team in qualifying. In every individual event and overall.

Really sad for Aly, but today just wasn't her day. No event finals for her but she'll still be an important part of the team finals. Really happy for Gabby. Other than that beam fall she looked great, and SO clean!

Ahhh... he's lucky that he tied and they're dropping his high bar score for the tie-breaker. I look forward to watching him in the all-around finals.

Also, current subdivision.. Abliazin, from Russia who's a top contender on floor, just had his routine blow up. He not only sat on his double front, but proceeded to perform a round-off and just stops... the Russians were doing so well until floor!! What is it with team Russia (both men and women) and floor?!!
