Chris Brooks is officially replacing Sam on the men's team. Kimble is the alternate.
 
For the women, it looks like Skinner will be the alternate. They switched their bar line up for qualifications, Raisman, Douglas, Biles, Kocian, Dowell. Meaning they pulled Nichols off bars and out of the all around. They replaced her on bars with Brenna. Sad Maggie won't get a shot at at all around but I'm sure they wanted Brenna to have a shot at bar finals.

Aly, Gabby and Simone will be the gymnasts competing for AA.

ETA I would have made Gabby the alternate and put Skinner in. She's almost an assured medal in vault and Gabby looked very...."meh"....during PT.
 
Theres a video of Gabby messing up her amanar and then at podium training she only does a double. If Gabby's not doing an amanar, I'm a little surprised they didn't pick one of the other two that have it to do All Around, but I'm sure we will be fine.

I think she's trying for it, but it's a little fresh for here so sometimes she still doesn't get the block she needs. I think this puts the pressure on her to perform it.

When she does do it, it's really not bad. It will be interesting to see what she does in qualifications. Here's a video of it from Monday in practice.

Thanks for the podium training vids- I need to catch up on all the newbies (minus Simone, I watch her compete all day lol).

It's very interesting that most of the British gymnasts aren't from 2012, did most of them retire? I'm dying that there are sisters competing, how weird/cool must that be?

Sad for Ponor (I hope she holds out for Rio because I adore her), Chuso you a bamf, and Russia's got a rough situation going. Komova, I will LITERALLY pay you to stay on the beam. Just do it. Even if she doesn't win AA I just want her to stop choking. She's like the BSB and SSX of finals and it kills me.

Jen Pinches is doing gymnastics at UCLA, Beth Tweddle and Hannah Whelan have retired, I think Rebecca Tunney has had a lot of injuries recently, not sure about Imogen Cairns. So yes, we've had some new faces over the past couple of years! So excited to see what they (and our men) bring to the table at the championships! :)

Addendum- I swear to all that is holy, if MyKayla Skinner doesn't put both her hands on that goshdarned vault I will end her. Seriously, how has that never been fixed?

It's been decided that she'll be an alternate, so we won't be seeing any of her hands on the vault this coming week...

Thank goodness. I'm sure she's a lovely girl, but reviewing all the podium vids (and reminding myself about all these girls), I remember why I don't like her gymnastics. Also that floor routine music is blech. Techno highlands? No thank you.

Did we ever get an update on Kyla Ross? I know she took herself out of selection camp and the US meet was rough, any news?

True about Komova and beam falls. She has such a beautiful style that I think should be the gold standard when it comes to beam (and bars too). I've seen a video of her doing that horizontal leg turn, right into a front aerial (w/o bringing the leg down), and then right into a sheep jump! I'm not sure how many points she gets if she connects all that, but that is so crazy hard. I find beam combos like that a lot more impressive than death defying acro moves.

I hope Ponor is healthy and ready in time for Rio. She's one of my all time favorites and I want to see her in event finals again.
