Just F.Y.I, the Artistic Gymnastics Olympic Test Event is this weekend... Men's subdivision 1 have already gone, looks like Germany has locked themselves a spot seeing as it's unlikely any other team will score higher than them, while Canada is most likely out with that final team score...

Still to come in the next 2 subdivisions - Teams Spain, France and Romania followed by Teams Belarus, Ukraine and The Netherlands. Jake Dalton and John Orozco are the 2 men's representatives from the U.S.A.

By the end of the day, we'll know which 4 countries earn a berth to the Olympics. Tomorrow's the women's turn... Romania is on the edge.

The 4 countries that qualify their men's artistic gymnastics team are:
1.) Germany
2.) Ukraine
3.) The Netherlands
4.) France

Romania won't be able to send a MAG team to the Olympics... I'm almost certain this has never happened before; devastating for their programme.

Yeah Romania won't qualify a women's team either. At least Larisa already has a spot?

She doesn't but one of the girls earned a spot for the Olympics and Larisa will go instead of her.

No one actually "earned" a spot... teams that place 5th to 8th at the test event get to nominate one male and one female gymnast from their country to attend the Olympics. For men, it hasn't been confirmed who they're sending yet, but Drăgulescu had automatically earned himself a berth to the Olympics for his silver medal on vault from the 2015 AGWC. For women, it'll most likely be Iordache, as she has the best chance of medalling in AA.

I'm still processing the fact that we will NOT be seeing BOTH a full WAG and MAG team from Romania at an Olympic Games... this is just devastating to the FRG's programme.

My heart aches for Ponor, I really hope she doesn't feel her comeback was a waste. Her attempt at a DTY (especially when vault was their last apparatus to compete on) was so dangerous, I really hope she didn't hurt herself. The fact that she had to perform a pretty difficult vault, when she wasn't even ready to do so, goes to show what a desperate situation the team was in.

What a shocking turn of events. This just means that USA, Russia, China, and GBR will be, in my opinion, the contenders for that WAG team podium finish with USA already a step ahead for the gold despite not having their final roster yet...

Don't count out Japan. They've had some pretty impressive scores at their nationals. Brazil look great today but they'd need the others to have meltdowns

Me and Romania.

Anyway. Nadia Comaneci said last fall that they have a lot of youngin's coming up that will be ready for 2020. I'm holding her to that.

Also did anyone read Ponor's farewell post on instagram? So sad
