Are you just getting stuck? I tell my kids "toe to the ceiling" so they remember to bring their leg up AS they're bending back, not after. Make sure you are like a teeter totter -- as your arms go back, your toe goes to the ceiling.
 
If you cand kick over from a bridge yet, I would start with that. go to a wall, do a backbend with your toes touching the wall, and then walk up the wall and kick over! keep doing that to get the feel of it, and then just keep trying on your own!
