ChelleShocked, I'm not talking about "tough love". To me, that is coaching. I'm talking about actually putting a child down - you suck, you're fat, you're the worst one on the team, you're tumbling is awful, you have no business being here, etc.

I know, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I just wanted to clarify for any new cheer parents so they didn't take it the wrong way. But yeah, there is definitely no reason coaches should speak to athletes like that.

Going from level 2 to level 3 stunts is HARD!!! Harder than you think its gloing to be. So when your cp comes home every night from practicing the first month or so on level 3, just be there and encouraging, they will get it eventually!!! Knowing this ahead of time would have saved us a LOT of stress and agony.
Amen to that!

Even, if for whatever personal reason, you can only make it to one competition, be THE MOST supportive, loud, awesome parent of the bunch. I only cheered allstar in college, and so my parents could only make it to one of the closer ones each (they're divorced). They were so loud and fun while they were there that it made up for all the times they missed. It made ME feel good..and I was 19 lol.

I think for moms- don't live through your child in the sport, and don't go crazy when they fall or bust or something happens. Just b there and say it's ok. And for athletes- stick with it if u really love it. And realize your coach has had more experience than u so don't try and over take your team/gym. I have seen that happen :/
