I am just looking into Camp Woodward. Not sure if it is what we are looking for or not. I teach and have been a camp 4-H counselor for years. Just wondering if any parents have applied and worked the camps to help defray tuition costs and if so what was your experience like.
I guess my biggest question is will my daughter get quality instruction in both stunting and tumbling. My CP is 10 and a flyer for her All-Star team. She has a tuck and pretty much a layout. Are some weeks better than others? I love the fact that they are having fun, but if we are spending that much money I want her skills to improve. We are thinking about doing vacation in the PA/Washington area after if we decide it is a good fit. Basically just wanting information for now.

Woodward is well worth your money I went last year as my 1st year with a group of girls from my team & I personally got a lot out of it I went with level 2 skills & after a week came back with all level 3 skills. It mainly focuses on tumbling but if you want her to work on stunting a lot too she can go with a pre-made stunt group & they have a program for that or she can form a stunt group there with instructors/campers & stunt during open gym times. Everyone is evaluated day 1 by throwing their best tumbling pass then are split into groups by age & skill level. There is a mandatory class that is 2 hours daily then an optional open gym where she can go for extra tumbling or stunting time. There aren't necessarily weeks that are better than others they are all good & have experienced instructors. I had so much fun last year & I can't wait to go back this year:)

why do certian weeks cost more than other then??
I'm almost positive that one of the reasons that the earlier & later weeks are cheaper because some people are in school like during the first couple weeks of woodward I'm not out of school yet then the last ones I'm already back in but also as imacharlotteallstargirl said in the other post you asked about the rates it gets more expensive during the middle of the summer & that's usually because those are the most popular weeks but every week is fun:) No specific weeks are "better" than others different instructors are there at different times but they're all good. I think I'm going week 6 I went week 7 last year.

It is a great program. All of the girls I had in my groups seemed to have a great time and there were new skills being thrown all of the time. The instructors did a great job with them and I learned a lot as a coach as well. I look forward to teaching there again this summer.

Camp Woodward is definitely worth it. There are 3 times a day to tumble, one is mandatory, the other two are open gyms. At the nighttime open gym, you can stunt as well. The instructors are experienced, and always willing to help. I've been there 3 summers in a row, and just cant get enough. They work not only on just normal passes, like roundoff handspring tucks/layouts, but also specialty's to put some variety into the tumbling. The groups the campers are placed in are based off of age, and skill level, so it makes the coaching a lot easier. In my opinion I would say go for it, it is a great experience for cheerleaders of any age!

I am considering applying to work to get the break on the cost. Haven't fully decided yet--that is a LOT of kids to deal with for a whole week!!!

And my cp says it won't really be "going away to camp" if Mommy is there! but she's only 8...so I think she'll survive with me there. We're also trying to get some of her friends and their moms together so we can all go at the same time. That way cp will have friends there--and so will Mommy!

I haven't asked anyone at our gym. Money is pretty tight so I can't imagine many would even consider. My daughter would rather go if at least one of her friends were going. Maybe I can find someone who would consider. Not sure yet. Would be great if a mom or two would go as well...much more fun!

What are the main age groups for woodward? I have kids that want to go but unfortunately have never gone myself.

does anybody know what the difference is between weeks 1-4 and 5-12 they consider 5-12 power tumbling what is ran differently in weeks 5-12 to make it power tumbling
