Our gym took three of our six teams to an out of state competition earlier this season and a well known gym with a large fan base went on two teams before our small senior team. Because of the size of the well known gym the section of supporters from their own program had the line to the VIP section almost to the back of the arena which put our program lining up per the security guards instructions against a curtain and funneled down an aisle. When they announced the well known gyms well known team people literally were running through the arena pushing people aside!! A gaggle of cheerleaders plowed over one our first year cheer moms and she thought there was a fire or some other real emergency going on. I was like "it's just XYZ team they won BLAH BLAH comp". It was so chaotic and the amount of people from that gym was so large that they still were not cleared out of VIP when our team went on. The poor parents from the team between them and us basically ended up watching their team from the entrance area of the VIP section. Later on when my kids team was competing in the upstairs area we were again going on a couple of teams apart from a team from the well known gym. This time we were supposed to be a team or two before that program...I can't really be sure because the announcer kept changing the order of who was up next. Which was bad enough but again there was this huge entourage of supporters from that program who packed the line to the VIP and didn't want to let is in even though our team was going on before theirs was. The announcer ended up switching our team with the team that should have gone on before them and we were all still trying to get in the VIP line when our kids took the floor!! Ended up basically climbing over the chairs and under the rope to get up to cheer my own kids on. Missed taping the first part of the routine. Very frustrating.... I want to be clear that I'm not complaining about the well known gym having all the parents and cheerleaders of all their teams supporting each other. Our gym does that too. My complaint is with the EP. They KNOW that the well known gym has many teams at this comp and just the folks from that program are going to take up a lot of space not to mention the fans of that team. The EP should have allowed an extra minute for the crowd to clear. In my own kids division they ended up moving the team from that gym to the last team preforming in that division which may have been a good idea for crowd control. They just should have announced it and not had all the chaos with moving the performance order.
