Hi all .. I know I asked this on another thread but I was reading the post about cheerbandz. My son seems to have a lot of trouble still keeping his legs straight in his cartwheel . Would you suggest these for him ?

Thanks

How old is your son? I think that time and practice usually is the cure for this one!

I still think you should just give him time. My CP had crooked, frog legged cartwheels when she was his age. That was after being in gymnastics for about 4 years. Eventually she learned to do it the correct way. Good luck!

@gymmomla sometimes it takes young children a while to establish their kinesthetic sense. Most people, especially young people, lose all sense of body awareness the second their hips are above their head. Once that clicks, then corrections are easier to make.
Give it time! Good technique takes good patience.

Thanks :) he definitely is getting a lot of practice .. I think it pushes him to improve when he sees all the others doing so good.

I hugged one of my girls tight today and told her this:
"You're doing the work. The skill may not happen right now or next week but eventually it will because you're putting in the work today. Your time is not wasted. I'm proud of your hard work. Even if it never pays off."

It took her two years to get a back walk over. It took her 5 to get her back handspring. It took her 7 to get her tuck and that skill is still a work in progress. But the work is always worth it :)
