i know the coach (or director?) of the Charlotte gym is from HotCheer... i don't know of any drama there... though what's cheer without drama? and i don't know if HotCheer classifies as pittsburgh.... i think it's about 20 miles away? so if that's not a source of drama, just ignore me :oops:

You are correct. Elizabeth is quite far, but is still a "Pittsburgh gym".

That isn't accurate at all. Coach isn't retained by Pittsburgh gym for the new season. New's of coach's availability becomes pretty common knowledge. CEA believes coach will be an asset to our program. Coaches day job is very convenient to a new city we are opening in and the pieces fall into place. Some might call this fate!!!

I don't think it is the idea of expansion that is upsetting. Heck my gym has five gyms in the state of Virginia and one in New York. It's the reasoning behind why PA would be a successful location that is the issue. I would argue, with a bias, that my program offers the best product available in the state, but you take the coach of our level 5 team, who is loved by many, and you place him at another program in the area...I promise you many kids would leave just to follow a coach that they love. So there in lies the problem for me. A coach leaves a program and goes to CEA to coach. So this creates now this concept that should a gym open in their old home town, then athletes will leave their old program to come cheer for them again in the new program. Probably more than the general public really needs to know but oh well. Hate me, be mad, I don't care. She is a brilliant business woman but her ethics are nearly nonexistent. This will be the second time a gym was opened with the hope of taking business from another...enough is enough

How about we get over ourselves a bit here. CEA already had around 80 athletes driving the 2 hours up to Kernersville EVERY WEEK to cheer. EIGHTY. We opened a small gym there because it was already viable, not to "take business from" another gym. The fact that other kids left their gyms? Not really expected to be so much, or they would have gotten a larger space in the first place. CSP is WAY too smart to risk her business for personal vendetta which is largely dreamed up in the Fierceboard universe, not in reality. She makes business decisions, not vengeance decisions. And f a Pittsburgh area coach has been on the staff all year talking about how well CEA could do up there, then she is going to listen. She does a great job of running her business and LOVING her job. Everyone who attempts to demonize her on here are just exposing themselves to those of us who know her. I cannot say it enough... we get kids coming from some of the gyms who trash talk her constantly. Their responses are pretty much always: "She is NOTHING like they told us. This gym is awesome, and already feels like home".

I have quite a few friends in the area and have heard conflicting stories. I was just telling what I had understood.

gotcha. i only lived in PA for one semester before the NJ in me had a panic attack from all the fresh air ;) in NJ 20 miles is a whole different place, in PA not so much. i forget sometimes :)

I'm not going to lie:
If a MAJOR theater/production group that was going to produce tons of quality films/theater moved into CT and opened up shop, you'd BET my bottom dollar I'd move back to CT in a HEARTBEAT, and convince all my NYC friends to do the same. Don't get me wrong, I love NYC and everything, but being close to family in a fiscally cheaper place to live would be awesome. If a cheer business sees an opportunity, why NOT take it? I often feel like if a group of CT gyms in an area could come together, they'd be able to provide more consistent results..why not capitalize on that in another area? Unless the gym is unethically recruiting, why not examine your business model and see why people leave? And is it a bad thing?

Is this when I start talking about the 'Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog' law? Yes?

Also also- let's not be limited. CEA isn't just trying to field a team in every level 5 division. They're trying to field a team in every USASF category, coed and otherwise :D

Although I understand what you are saying, cheerleading is a business. If this makes sense for CSP financially as a business owner, then so be it. She is in the business of making money and doing what she loves. If the opportunity comes up, someone is going to take it, whether it's her or someone else. If it is a case of buying out a gym that is struggling, it's probably the best option they have. If local gyms are boo hoo-ing about it, my message to them is step up and make sure you have a better product than they do. If you can't do that, you don't deserve their business anyways.

well said my friend....people forget this is a business too! Top Gun has 2 locations by the way people. If others haven't expanded maybe they just don't know how to delegate and they like to micro manage people.

Absolutely! I love this said coach and actually was begging my mom when we lived in PA to be on her teams.
