Hello, I'm a newbie. Does anyone know of any cheer gyms close to Boston or accessible by public transportation/train?

I'm a college freshman trying to prep for trying out for the club cheer team next year. I'm trying to get into a gymnastics class soon, but I'm still trying to find the right place. I don't have a car so it's limiting my search. I'm only 16 even though I'm in college (I graduated from high school early since I started school abroad). Not sure if this might make it easier for me to find a place, or more difficult since my parents aren't around and I'm underage.

Thanks for any help!

East celebrity elite is about a half hour from Boston

Pro Athletics is about an hour

Cheer Factor is around 40 minutes

Spirit Central is about an hour

Full House is about 40 minutes

Obviously the times are give and take depend on where exactly you are in Boston but here you go!

Very few of these are easily accessible to public transportation though. You may be better off finding a gymnastics facility. Good luck!

Yeah I don't think any of them are accessible, at least not on a regular schedule. We have had northeastern in the gym on and off throughout the years, but they've always had to drive.

Having used the subway recently to get from the south side of Boston to Fenway and can only imagine how long and difficult it would be to get from Boston to ECE.

You may want to contact one of the gyms (I'm partial to ece) and ask about rides and they may be able to connect you with someone nearby that already drives.

Well you took the green line. That line is 100 years old and the oldest subway in the country! The other lines aren't bad and the commuter rail is pleasant enough - but it's geared towards suburbanites going into the city for work in the morning and leaving in the evening. I don't think there's a stop in Tewksbury, but even if there was it probably wouldn't work very well for her.

There must be some smaller gyms closer to the city, potentially on a bus line, I just can't think of any.

Yup, took the green line and gotta say for a guy born and raised in suburbia it was a little uneasy of a feeling having never done that before. Saturday night we hit up Faneuil Hall and hit our transfer as the Red Sox game was done and everyone was going in the opposite direction. Didn't help they were doing rail work and we had to exit the train to ride a bus to the next stop to continue our journey.

are bravo all stars still a thing in wilmington? the lowell line goes to/from wilmington

They're still a thing. I couldn't remember what town they moved to a year or two ago. The commuter rail might go there, but I'm not sure the gym is anywhere near it.

You could probably take the commuter rail to the same town or a neighboring town of almost all the gyms, but you still have to get to the gym itself, and then who knows when the commuter rail will be heading back inbound.

There's a gym in Wakefield, North Shore Cheer Explosion. You could take either the commuter rail or bus (136/137) from Oak Grove on the Orange line, but it still requires a bit of walking.

Also there's a couple gyms in Weymouth - Ultimate Starz and Pro Athletics that you might be able to do some variation of subway/bus or commuter rail to.

Ultimate Starz actually doesn't look too bad. Pro looks like it's 1.5-2hours.
