About 80 but it was showing at 3 theaters in a pretty small all star city.

Can I say something rude? I always love watching Spirit of Texas's routines, but did anyone else notice the focus the movie cameras put on a specific "cheerlebrity" on the team during the routine? (Maybe I just noticed it because of the preteen girls sitting behind me screaming her name.) I have no doubt she's an incredible athlete, but all that focus made me notice that she sits in the front during the opening toe to fulls, only does one or two tumbling passes, and was walking behind in one of the stunt sequences. She just didn't really do much (except her cute pyramid thing), but received a lot of attention. I don't know, I guess I just expected more.

I noticed this as well. She doesn't actually tumble at all apart from jumps to back and it's pretty obvious since there is so much focus on her. But she does cheer on the team for the entire performance and seems to be a great motivator which can be a good thing. But the movie editing definitely highlighted her for no other reason than she is a cheerlebrity which is still the one thing that bugs me about the CL and these types of events, just giving more attention to certain athletes that already get plenty of attention, and not always for surperior athletic ability.

If it is held at the same time this close to worlds, I can imagine a lot of teams not attending.

Why ? Due to the traveling involved ? Even with the competition in Las Vegas, East Coast teams will have significantly less traveling to do than the West Coast teams had this year with the event in Atlanta.

Less than I expected. It was in their small auditorium and there were like 30 open seats, so probably like 50? It was sold out, I guess a bunch of people bought tickets and ended up not using them.

The theatre I went to was packed! A lot of WC people from the eastern PA area were there. Along with people from State and a few rec gyms. Some Suns girls were there, and were actually headed to Nashville from the movie for One Up! You would think with all those cheerleaders, there would be a little more excitement but it was very quiet.

She did a highlight video a couple of years ago and it was mostly her flying skills. For tumbling she barely had a full on a tumble track. I was so confused about why everyone thought she was so amazing, but figured I was just missing something. Was really surprised shortly after I had seen the video when she moved to spirit from cheetahs.

I felt that a lot of time was spent at some gyms while they spent no time at all on others. Personally I don't feel the time with the giggling Fab 5 had merit as opposed to time they could've spent speaking to the coaches or gym owners, or even judges. And I would have rather that they spent equal time focusing on all of the competing gyms. For example, there was very little said about CALI yet they had 5 teams competing.

I would have loved for them to show something about ICE. Just throwing that out there; they're amazing but I don't know much about their gym/coaching. I thought the thing about Cheer Athletics was so sweet, and really captured what I believe the gym stands for; that is, being a family and being supportive and accepting of one another. However, I kind of wish they would have shown more. I guess because I've been to CA, I didn't think the footage did it justice. Walking into the gym for the first time is breathtaking and a perfect example of how really huge the cheerleading industry is becoming. That could make no sense at all... just me thinking out loud (well, in text) though. I also wish Courtney Smith-Pope would have been interviewed more. I didn't make it for the prom/red carpet footage, but I don't remember her standing out too much in the movie, except for talking about the fab 5. Wish I could have heard her talk about herself as a coach. (She might have and I just missed it!) Last thing: why isn't Nfinity putting the movie on DVD and selling it? Any particular reason?

What I liked most about the movie is that it got our kids out from behind their computers, out of the house, together (possibly) with their parental units and friends, to do something as archaic as... wait for it... wait for it... See a movie in a theatre!

It's the first time this has ever been done, so the very rough edges showed. Everyone is talking about those, so I'll be original and just not.

I noticed that they decided to forgo telling each teams story and instead, saying; "Here are the types of people who coach this sport, and here are the types of kids who do this sport." Obviously, the grand scheme is to ultimately continue the growth of the sport; which is excellent.

To that end, I do not wish for this competition format to change. I hope it continues to be as avant-garde as it is. Hopefully, by next year, they will have figured out how to cut on scene production time. As far as features: I would like to see some teams followed at practice. Show the issues in particular. In that way, the audience will be in suspense, while waiting to see the featured teams' routine play on the screen. Will she hit? Can he land that? Does their rival hit or fall? The more personally invested we get, the better! Then show it! If it falls, if it hits, show it all! Do not cut away! It will keep the audience interested throughout the whole movie.

This year at Worlds, after paying hundreds of dollars, the boyfriend has LAG working in a tent out back. My cp graduates this year. Hmmm...yeah, I'll pay 15 bucks for a movie next year!

Agreed. That was a beautiful moment and I'm so glad it was captured. It gave me chills watching, almost like it was something so emotional/personal/intimate that I shouldn't see it. I wish that segment was in the movie. It spoke volumes. (And not just that clip, that whole 2 minute and some odd second video).
