All-Star Cheer Pet Peeves

To be honest people have guessed 13 or 14 when they don't know how old I am. I've never looked my age. We have other petite flyers who are 16-18 that people assume are older by their face. But I look like a baby. Guess I'll be grateful for that when I get older.

I totally understand. When I was 22, working retail in college, I'd get asked by people if I was old enough to work there. So, at 22, I obviously appeared to be under 16. 8 years ago, at the age of 28, I was offered a kids meal for the last time at a restaurant. It went downhill from there fast. Lol. So, appreciate it now because I don't even get carded anymore. Lol

All that to say, really people shouldn't judge by appearance.

I absolutely agree I've met ten year olds that, when they have all their comp make up on look older than I do. It's amazing to me that teams and coaches get so much flack for the age that their athletes appear to be.

haha sometimes i'd like to think so, but it is annoying when cheerleaders think they can slack off in school and be lazy because they think cheer will replace it

This should probably go in the gym hopper section but how about the family that tries out in two different gyms, makes the same teams in both gyms and is practicing with both gyms. Waiting to decide which has the better team I guess.

When parents try to make their cp more cheerleberty (hate that term) like and dye hair blonde, to much tanning and makeup and they are only little girls. Save that for the older girls not 11 year olds.

YIKES!!! I will be doing hair chalk (for fun) for my 8 y/o cp, but she will not do tanning or bleached hair. Ever.

-Competing against a team within your gym... I love the other team but it was hard to be happy for them/support them and then live up to that standard all within 20 minutes
-the whole "cheerlebrity" craze
-cheerleaders feeding the stereotype
-"I'm better/cooler because I'm from Craptastic Allstars and we have 50 globes."
-"I haven't worked out in weeks, I'm so out of shape." *shows cheer athletics abs*
-people not familiar with allstar/worlds trying to tell you "news" like someone telling me today "hey did you hear that f5 gym didn't win worlds? You know the ones with the blue and green? They put Xs or something on the globe? They brought golden memories back last year? I think they're from Pennsylvania? Yeah some call them BABS some call them golden."
