Someone just brought it up in another thread... The November 1 deadline is coming up. Smoed is going to need to do some heavy recruiting over the next few days if they want to bring in more ringers without a waiver.

I'm evil. I almost hope they can't find anyone and they're forced to make do like so many other gyms.

what does the november 1st deadline mean?

I just shimmyed the heck out of all of you. I am really happy that I follow the right people on Twitter. I think the extent of my cheer people are @12stepCheermom @cupieqt @Mamarazzi and maybe a few gym Twitters. These kids just don't interest me. They tweet too much crap for my liking.

Which is why I don't follow them either, except for Madi but she goes to school with my kids and they're friends. It goes for kids in general, they tweet crap I don't care about.

I finally finished investigating what everyone was talking about.... precious minutes I'll never get back. My eyes are rolling right outta my head at some of these tweets. So hypocritical. So immature. I think I'm more done with The Smoed Show than with Dance Moms and that says a lot. They're acting like they took blood oaths with each other. My goodness calm yourselves.

On a good note, this reminded me of why I got rid of my Facebook and don't read through my Twitter feed anymore. So that's neat.

Mine is 11, soon to be 12, and she goes from "mom - where are you, get here, I need you now!" to "please go away!" in a heartbeat. I treasure the moments when she needs me and I hope the "please go away stuff" is just temporary. I have an older son who has yet to act this way - he seems to always be okay w/ being seen w/ his mom even at times when I've been really worried I'd embarrass him. Maybe it's just a girl thing ;).

My son is 12 and he's small for his age. He looks like he's 8 or 9. He still lets me get away with holding his hand in public and I'm pretty sure it's because most people wouldn't believe he's 12 to begin with lol.

one thing I'll say regarding the show is that there only so many times you can blame editing. I stopped watching the show in the middle of last season. I tried to watch this season, but things people say it just erks me. I'm with @Eyes On The Prize I never know who or what everyone is talking about. And my research skills sucks when it comes to finding tweets.

I can't keep up with twitter. I never know who to follow and I miss all the good stuff. I don't see how people keep up with that stuff without being on twitter all day.

After then you have to have a waiver signed to change gyms in order to compete at Worlds.
I need some clarification on this. I thought the rule was you didn't need a release until you competed with any team the first time. So, if you never compete with that team, you don't need a waiver (regardless of the date). But step on a competition floor one time that season....even on a senior 1, and you need the release from that point forward. That was my understanding.

I think only level 5 athletes need a release.

Only because a release is only required for worlds. But any athletes who's been on the floor with any level team has to have it if they want to compete at worlds. The question is, does that rule take effect automatically on 11/1 or does it take effect as soon as you compete during the season with another team?

I think you're right. I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that it was either November 1 or 1st competition whichever came first, but I think I'm wrong. It doesn't matter what level you started on, but you can't compete at Worlds. This is last year but here's an excerpt from the rule:

All athletes participating on a team at The 2014 Worlds must be a registered member of that team’s gym during the
2013-2014 competition season. Any athlete that has competed on the floor with a team in any level from a gym
(Primary Gym), during the Worlds competition season (November 1, 2013 – May 1, 2014), will have to have a USASF
Gym Release Waiver signed by the owner of that gym (Primary Gym) before that athlete is eligible to compete with
another gym (Secondary Gym) at The 2014 Cheerleading Worlds.

So two things have to happen...it has to be 11/1 or later AND you have to competed with another team at any level.

So if you never competed....or you competed at that jamfest this last week (before 11/1) you don't need a waiver. But anyone who competes from this point forward with any level team has to have a waiver if they want to compete on the worlds floor. That's my take on that.

Which means people can continue to move free and clear until their teams compete for the first time.

Thanks for the clarification.
