Why would you be more proud of a level 5 win than a level 2 win? That really doesn't sit well with me.

This is me assuming the jackets are the same for all levels so that would be irrelevant.

I would be more proud to win using higher level skills. I would like to win being challenged using the skills I worked hard to obtain not the backhandspring I had since I was 5.

I wonder how many other teams (other than Flip city) are having to get government id's.
And at the comps, with the id's needing to be checked, everyone will know at some point that team cheated, unless checking id's is done where no one can see.

I think in South Florida, they made a huge example out of Flip City and if anyone tries it they are crazy. Also, I think the other Florida gyms are all over it like they were with Flip City. These gym owners aren't backing down. When I first started cheering Florida Matchplay was a huge competition with Individual Routines that lasted two days! Year after year it has gotten smaller and now it is down to one day. Less teams come every year and a lot of my friends say their gym refuses to go because of the cheating in the past by different gyms and nothing being done. Not just Flip City. This is the best competition in my opinion because it is at the fair. It is the only competition that takes the top two and has the compete again. Hopefully, next year it will be a new beginning.

I am super impressed with this policy. Let's hope they follow through with it. I think that requiring that every athlete on every team within a program show a government issued ID if just one team in the program is caught with an ineligible athlete might receive some backlash. However, I think it will bring to light the dishonest practices of a program to parents and athletes who might not have otherwise heard about it. Parents with CP's on lower level teams may not hear about a disqualification of an upper level team from a competition that the lower level teams did not attend. I am guessing that most gyms that are caught cheating try their best to share that information with as little people as possible. But, hopefully, this policy will finally make the consequences of cheating outweigh the benefits.

They can set-up a table for ID checks at the entrance to each comp with a sign that says, "Table of Shame. (You know why you are here.)"

I actually just checked the Beast of the East (Spirit Cheer) results from a few weeks ago and they still haven't changed who won in Large Junior 4. The team listed as winning in that division, Explosion from Gravity Cheer, used an illegal athlete, and was caught and disqualified. I heard the athletes had to return their "National Champion" jackets as well. Try and explain that one to your parents as a gym owner. Give back the jackets and now you have to present government issued IDs at all Varsity comps. At the Table of Shame (thank you @randomactsofcheer I love that one).

Question - what happens if a team that was found to use an illegal athlete had that said athlete on that team when they earned a bid for another competition such as UCA? Does that make that bid invalid if it can be proven?

Umm.. I have watched you post false and wrong info for days now... It's thoroughly annoying and frankly irresponsible. BTW Matchplay is still 2 days.

As long as its just the coaches... Let's try to remember these are all KIDS cheering. Is it necessary to put these kids through this? Seriously people lets put this in perspective. For example.. Your child is part of a gym. unbeknownst to you, the gym puts an overaged cheerleader on another team. Now you have to show ID's . Would you really want your Cheerleader walking up to the "table of shame" , to have to go through that, when it when it wasnt even her/ his fault? Why not make them all wear Scarlet letters while your at it? SMH

@shutupncheer - there has to be consequences for a gym's actions and those who are associated with that gym. Although there are those parents and athletes who are not aware of the rules, the rules are posted publicly and I find it hard to believe that most people don't know the ages of their teammates. To me there is just no excuse for cheating with athletes who are not age eligible. I'm all for having the coaches have to check in at the table of shame and the kids perhaps can have their id's viewed in a private room. But if you choose to be associated with a gym that has been found guilty of cheating then you have to be prepared to be judged for that. Gyms have cheated for years and people are tired of it. Most of us are pretty happy that Varsity and USASF are finally taking some action against it.

I know what you are saying, and agreed, the kids should not have to suffer in that way because of decisions made by coaches and gym owners. I do however think that when there is an illegal athlete on a team, more parents know than do not know. And by keeping their own athlete on that team without saying anything to the coach or owner, they are giving their implicit approval of the use of that illegal athlete. Maybe just maybe all these things will actually put a little fear in cheating gyms if they know they are going to be called out if found out.

Better yet, the upsurge of new participants at certain competitions, accused of allowing cheating athletes by disgruntled gym owners and coaches...
