You would be surprised how much us "parents" know...coaches tend to forget us quiet ones are there and have no problem spilling beans. Also that attitude towards parents on this board is probably one of the big reasons we can't get them to leave the parent section...which by the way is quickly becoming just as large and busy as the main board.
Oh and remember those of us that are "nothing but a parent" pay your salary...just saying...

As a completely disinterested observer I saw the "nothing but a parent" quip as a slam on parents. Frankly, I'm a little tired of being disrespected because I'm "just" a parent....like the only thing I'm good for is writing a check.

I really don't want a lot. Honestly, I don't. But, I definitely don't want to be treated like something the dog just left in the front yard.

We have a new gym in Nicholasville, Ky (right outside of Lexington) that opened in March. It's called Kentucky Reign. We are super excited for the 2013-2014 season to start! :)

Thank you! Even though I realize you're not defending me, I tagged her in that one comment bc last night I read through the CEA expanding thread to see if there had been something I missed about jayparkk being involved w/opening a new gym (bc I was clearly out of the loop on that one as I already mentioned, since he's still cheering on CE and all..) and I just found her comments in the thread incredibly rude, mean spirited, hostile, and very presumptuous (since it was not actually CEA expanding, yet her comments were directed towards CSP and CEA).

I have not responded to her comments thereafter bc I had no intention of perpetuating drama, nor an attempt to actually "defend" CSP, rather in hopes that she'd actually see it's nothing more than two new (well at least one of them has never coached formally to my knowledge since he's still on a Senior level 5 team about to compete at worlds), very young adults opening a NEW gym w/o any CEA affiliation..in fact, they're leaving CEA and opening a new gym. Don't we hear a lot on here about the "small" gyms and the concern that the "big" ones are going to "gobble" everyone up? This athlete and coach seem to be following their dreams and risk a new business venture...kudos to them!

These are some of the comments and I haven't even gone past page four today and won't for the sake of everyone's sanity...but apparently she really didn't have all of her "facts" straight and/or jumped the gun. I think it's still incredibly mean spirited seeing as how one of the gym's new owners jayparkk came on here and addressed the questions and seems genuinely excited about his new venture.

Honestly, if that is the location of the new gym I will go ahead and say, whether it ticks people off or not, I have lost what little bit of respect I had left for the owner of this program. This is a sport, and while I understand business and politics will always play a part, spite should never be involved. Though after the opening of the previous location, I can't say I'm surprised to see her stoop this low once again. I'm sorry but this move just screams of a complete and total lack of class...once again.

I don't think it is the idea of expansion that is upsetting. Heck my gym has five gyms in the state of Virginia and one in New York. It's the reasoning behind why PA would be a successful location that is the issue. I would argue, with a bias, that my program offers the best product available in the state, but you take the coach of our level 5 team, who is loved by many, and you place him at another program in the area...I promise you many kids would leave just to follow a coach that they love. So there in lies the problem for me. A coach leaves a program and goes to CEA to coach. So this creates now this concept that should a gym open in their old home town, then athletes will leave their old program to come cheer for them again in the new program. Probably more than the general public really needs to know but oh well. Hate me, be mad, I don't care. She is a brilliant business woman but her ethics are nearly nonexistent. This will be the second time a gym was opened with the hope of taking business from another...enough is enough

I don't think I've ever hidden my views on here so I have no problem with the supposed "outting" that was spoke of. As for a coach saying that they believe they could do well in Pittsburgh: what exactly would be the basis for that other than the fact it's a city highly populated with Allstar talent so opening a program there...with a known coach would most likely yield business from other programs...otherwise why make an attempt at a new location hundreds of miles from your state of origin? It can be twisted and turned 100 different ways to make it look how you want it to, but at the end of it all a program in Pittsburgh would be made with the intent of taking talent from other locations. I can see the case made for Charlotte based on the idea athletes were already commuting, though I still stand by I don't think the intent of that gym was nearly as harmless as that. How many athletes are commuting from Pittsburgh to North Carolina to where that gym is needed? A single coach moving back to the city isn't a valid reason for opening a gym with knowing Courtney's business smarts.

So you're right the location does stand a chance at being successful from a business standpoint. But as I stated in the original comment I made: if those are the means she is willing to stoop to in order to make another buck then I have absolutely no respect for her or her program.

It's not the city as much as it is the "circumstances" that surround it. So I'll just leave it at that until an official statement is made. I know for a fact though that Pittsburgh is an option and that alone is enough for me.
