Reading this thread, I am SO not your target market. I've bought one DVD over the years, and to be honest, I've never watched it. It was one of those 4-6 weeks later deals, and by the time the DVD arrived, the season was long over and I'd lost interest.
As far as the photography, I'm not a good mark either. This is CPs 5th year of comp cheer, and I see maybe 1 photo per year where I can see her face--and thats not to say that the photo is any good. She isn't a flyer, she isn't a point person, so she just naturally doesn't show up in the photos. That's actually the reason I bought a telephoto lens. I know where my kid is, and I can be ready to take a shot.
If an EP were to tell me I couldn't bring in my camera, I could live with that. As others have said, you miss the routine when you're behind the lens. It would not mean that I would be buying from the vendors at the event, since my kid is all but invisible.
