Is all of the information on there really necessary? For those of you that dont know what it looks like - It is a sheet that your coaches need to fill out listing all of the songs used in your routine music. Here is what needs listed:

1. Song Title
2. Artist's Name
3. Song Writer's Name
4. Song Publisher's Name
5. Publisher Affiliation (BMI, ASCAP, SESAC)
6. Length of Time the song is used.
7. Name of the Record Label for CD/Tapes

I bolded above, IMO, what would be important. Do most coaches look all of this up? I am having a hard time finding the information that is not bolded. Do people make this up on their forms? Do they leave it blank? I just want to follow the norm on this I guess.

That seems a bit excessive... the last time I had to do this was NCA College, and I'm pretty sure the 3 things you had bolded were the only required items.

They wouldn't let us check in last year because our sheets were 100% complete, and we arrives at 10pm at night, and it caused SO many issues!! We had to get all of the information filled out (which was not easy when we were in Orlando and no where near this info) before they would give us our registration packets! Fill them out all the way to avoid any issues! And good luck to your team at Worlds!

Thank you! LOL! I mean, I could have it filled out complete. I mean, Im sure "King Harrison" could be a song Publisher, I suppose. I am just wondering if most people BS the info they cant find or not. I found a few song writer names, no publisher names, IDK WTH Publisher Affiliation is, and found a few record labels...

They do this because if they air your routine on ESPN then they need to pay royalties.
And why would they sit there and try to figure out all the information for each song in your routine.
I would just send it to your music person for them to fill out unless you selected all of the music for your mix.

That makes sense. I dont feel it is my DJs job to look all that up either though. I feel a DJ could let me know song titles (even though I picked out almost all the songs). I guess my next question to pose is where do you find this information? Ive tried googling the answers, and going to artists homepages - with no luck. A lot of the songs in my routine are not main stream artists, which makes it even harder. Like I said, I have found SOME info on this, but not enough to complete it. Anyone have any tips on how to look this up - and furthermore - Anyone know WTH Publish Affialiation (BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, etc) is?

the publisher affiliations are performing rights organizations. They are the ones that pay out the royalties.

it may take a while but i suggest you just google the artist and the organization.
for example. search Britney Spears BMI and info will come up if that is her organization. An artist can only be a member of one

BMI: Broadcast Music, Inc
ASCAP: American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers
SESAC: Society of European Stage Authors and Composers

Basically, they collect the royalties for artists when their work is used publically. Artists will belong to one of these performance rights organizations.

We used to google search it....it's a pain in the neck

I meant our sheets *weren't* 100% complete.

We have 9 songs. Its a hassle - but looks like it must be done accuratley!

I just told them my entire routine was to the Rolling Stones - Start me up. whole routine. I think its the most expensive one to license. I think we should all do it.

I guess if small Senior doesnt get shown this year on ESPN.... We know why.
