Thanks for the help! This will be the first time in the 13 years I have been at this school that the cheerleaders have been to competition. We are trying to build a program that can be competitive. We have a tumbling requirement for Varsity and as a result we have a very small Varsity team, and I have 10 on JV, none of whom have a BHS. We have hired a tumbling instructor to come to the school one day a week, and have hired a choreographer to re work some of our game day and pep rally material. Prior to this everything was done by the cheerleaders, and it was getting pretty stale. I have some pretty talented dancers and a couple of beautiful jumpers to work with, and no tumbling or stunts. I have some really pretty BWOs but I just don't think those would do much good. I thought game day would be the best place to start. My goal is to get them exposed to what is out there as far as cheer and to get them motivated to up our game.
I am a first year coach so I could use all the help I can get! I have dance background and my daughter cheered 6 years of all star so I have some idea of what I am looking at. I am beginning to get material together. It would be AWESOME to be able to bounce some ideas off you when I get there. Being ground bound means we have to be creative in other areas! I am ordering some signs once I nail down what we are going to need. (there have never been any for JV, and Varsity rarely uses them). My biggest issue is going to be music I think, with the music rules as they are. I am trying to get the band director to help me get some recordings of our band, but cheer isn't a priority to him.
