Hey, thanks for the reminder and I'd love to....but I no longer have an option for signature. Anyone know where it is? I have all the rest, avatar, privacy etc etc etc...

I like the level idea...but SHEESH 13 kids is a lot to move down

It's so funny because down here, the whole "cocks" thing isn't out of the ordinary at all. But it still gives others a good laugh, I suppose.

Anywaaaaay, back to Georgia. I am super interested to see what level 5s they have. I like the idea of just grouping your kids into levels from tryouts, and having them tumble and practice together for the better part of the summer. Then splitting teams from there. It lets you evaluate your talent deeper than just that one tryout day.
Last time I talked to my friend, they were combing Senior and Junior levels?

I mean, if that's true, then it would be unfair since her and a lot of the Juniors on Dolces had a great chance of being on Louies this year..

I actually really like the idea too, lets you evaluate the individual on a more personal level to see where their commitment level is at.
We did that a few years back at my old gym. Everyone was assigned to literally the tumbling level they should be on according to what they threw. That meant no "really strong backspots" on "super flexible flyers" on level 5. It really lit a fire under some kids butts and they worked hard that summer to get to the level they wanted to be.

i just talked to jamie parrish about the tryouts, because im moving to georgia for college and wanted to cheer for them. all he told me is im definately on a team and to just come down and they'll put me on

Ooh, UGA or G-Tech?
Or Perimeter College is close too!

savannah college of art and design atlanta campus, its 23 miles from the gym. he told me not to worry and ill be placed in september, but i want to come down earlier. the suspense is killing me!
I have a friend that goes there too.
It's far!

looks like both GA teams will be small they have 53 kids listed in level 5. their website states: Please also note that we are 13 kids over on Level 5.This means that over the summer, we will be shifting kids from 5 to 4, and 4 to 3, and 3 to 2, and so on.

It's not just 13 kids and certainly not just level 5. If they are moving these kids from level to level 4 to 3, 3 to 2, (there seems to be space on the lower levels so it will probably not be 13 each level moved down) for the sake of quick math that is 39 kids affected. I get that that's life and I'm all for earning and working for your spot, but that is a lot kids. I hope it all works out too.

As a parent, this makes me cringe. I trust that they know what's going on down there in GA, though. I am sure there is a method to the madness. :)

I agree. I'm all for moving an athlete after s/he makes a team if there is a real growth or dip in ability. My cp's first cheer team after giving up gymnastics was a really sweet, small gym - but tryouts were basically all summer. They tried out, then were assigned a group to practice with the entire summer, then teams made in August. I prefer knowing after tryouts (again - allowing for small shifts). But I'm not the coach. :)
