I know some companies have the rule that you can't give more than one bid to the same program but does anyone know the reason why? and do you think that this rule is good or bad? I don't understand the point to this rule, someone please help..

I get it. Let's say we go to a bid comp with CA. As much as I love our program, their Worlds teams will kick our tails every time.
The EP is going to want programs to return to their event year after year, therefore, if they always give bids to the top-scoring teams, and it happens to be CA every time, eventually we'll stop going and the EP loses our program's money.

Yep, it's usually done to keep business at the event by not just having one mega program roll in and sweeping all the paid bids.

I compete in Providence every year and it's not uncommon for World Cup to walk away with both paid bids. It's frustrating to be sure.

But, I do think the bids should go to the highest scoring teams. I don't like this EP's choice non-sense, and I think the EP needs to make it clear in a bid declaration on their website if they're going to do something like that. BUTBT has done this before to Stingrays, so I guess you could say we should have known the rule, but I looked over their website for a bid declaration last week and never found one. It needs to be crystal clear that you're going to do that.

Yep, they have done it before to Top Gun, too. So I guess I wasn't too surprised that they did it again. I 100% agree that it should go by the top scores no matter who they are, and sometimes it may be teams from the same gym. That happened at both west coast comps this weekend. I just feel like it's weird that every bid comp has a different process in awarding bids, I think it should be the same at every competition.

I'm okay with different rules for different events as long is it's objective and not "whoever we feel will best represent us at worlds." And as long as they publish their bid declaration. I try to add them to Road to Worlds and I can barely find declarations for half of the events.

I was aware of the situation at GSSA, but what happened in Las Vegas?

I thought it was the same situation as GSSA where the paid bid receipient was out scored.
I haven't heard anything about that, but it could have happened. Maybe since it was one all girl and one coed, one of the others scored higher, I have no idea.
