I'm so sorry for you and the little one! Hopefully she finds a way to occupy her time, and maybe she'll miss it enough to come back once the hurt is gone!

Me and my daughter have been banned from a program.
Last season, my daughter was being heavily bullied by a teammate. It started off small and got worse as the season progressed. We had multiple conversations with the owner and with her various coaches about it. We gave them many chances to rectify the situation and nothing was ever done. Finally, one day at a competition, my daughters team was supposed to be on the mat for awards. All of the sudden she came running up to me with tears streaming down her face and said that she wanted to leave and she couldn't do it anymore. It took me about 30 minutes to get her to tell me, but apparently the girl who was bullying her had told her to get off the awards mat because she 'wasn't on their team and didn't deserve any awards'. My daughter was begging me not to make her go back. That evening, I contacted the owner and told her that my daughter had enough and we would not be returning.
Now, at the same time we had many friends at the gym. Mothers who were my friends and had been aware of the situation as it unfolded. I contacted 4 of them(who were also our friends outside of them gym) and let them know that we wouldn't be back but that my daughter loved their girls and we still wanted to keep in touch. We started at our current gym 2 weeks later. Now the new season has begun and a total of about 10 athletes have switched as well. Of those, only 3 were direct friends of mine. They didn't leave because I told them to, in fact, it was the opposite. I never badmouthed the gym at all, except to say that we wouldn't be returning. The other athletes, we didn't know at all but I guess word travels fast. The fact of the matter is that they were each unhappy with the former gym for their own reasons.
We have all been banned from returning to the former gym. Not that it matters because I'd drive my daughter to a different state before ever returning there. But we've been banned nonetheless.

I am saddened, but not surprised at the banning of athletes. The gym owners are shortsighted and must not really care about their athletes. No one should be banned unless they stole something or committed some sort of serious act.
Our gym does not ban people, but they can make it hard for parents and kids. We had a new gym open up near us this year. It was rumored to be opening up for several months.
Kids were bullied at our gym because they were considering the other gym.
The owners actions made it clear that it was an us vs. them situation. Kids were turned loose on facebook and twitter against this new gym.
The behavior of some of the parents and some of our athletes is embarassing. Some parents were encouraging the twitter and social media attacks on this new gym and kids that left and went there. These are the same kids who helped our gym win many times last year. It is a disgrace.
This type of behavior is very telling about the ethics and morals of those involved. As a parent, I do not condone these actions and I question the real motives of those who support these types of actions at any gym.

And then there are those gym owners that ban kids because they DO care about their athletes.
I remember 3 kids being banned from my gym - all of them not forever but for a certain period of time (ranging from 6-12 months). They were all banned for their misbehavior and were banned for some time to think about what they did wrong. If they wanted to come back they had to apologize to the coaches and the team, and they knew that they would be banned forever if their misbehavior would repeat. One of those kids never returned, one I don't know about, and the third came back and is again part of a team.
Banning those athletes was in the best interest of the other team-members. Had they not been banned everyone else would've thought that their behavior is accepted and things would've gone downhill very fast.

ugh, that makes my heart break. the girl that was bullying her should have been the one banned.

That's ridiculous. I moved gyms when I was a freshman. Simply because my new gym was closer (and better) but i didn't tell them that. My gym was completely fine with it because they knew it was easier for me. I think honestly it shouldn't be a problem. Yes there is the problem of competitiveness but it's the same sport and we all share a passion for it. It's all about the athlete and their happiness.

I really don't understand why gym owners would ban athletes. Its so ridiculous and bad business. I know of a gym in our area that have banned numerous athletes for things like wanting to switch gyms, being friends with kids on other teams, etc. Now that program is going down hill fast- they used to have over 10 teams (which is big for such a small area) and now they have to use numerous crossovers to fill their teams. The word is out there that this gym bans athletes for the silliest reasons and barely anyone but the head coaches favourites go to that gym. Yet I do agree with banning athletes that have done very serious things such as stealing, vandalism, bullying etc.

I've read a few posts about athletes being banned but allowed to return later. To me that's not banning. I've never banned an athlete but I did have to ban a family once for very bad parent behavior (very bad--not just annoying or a drama mama). This family cannot show their face at our gym ever again.
I never had to use the word banning though. They know they aren't welcome to return.
