Hi everyone! One of my cheerleaders has bad ankles and wants to try a pair of hi top sneakers. Can anyone recommend some? The only ones I found while searching online are the reebok ones that have been around for ever. Any newer styles out there? Thanks!!!

I have awful ankles and high top reeboks did nothing. She'd be better off to buy a heavy brace for her ankle.

Ankle brace. The Reeboks people were wearing a few years ago...yeah, I remember my pink pair from the 80s, all they were good for was looking cute with my peg rolled, acid wash jeans.

i have awful, awful ankles too. all my ligaments have been torn in both of them, one of them is partially numbed, and has bones spurs. i looked into high top cheer shoes, but in the end the best thing is heavy duty ankle braces. she's going to want some that lace up, and velcro in a criss cross.

would that ankle brace by any chance help my achilles problem? i've tried mutiple braces and i even asked my doctor/physcial therapist and i have yet to find one that works.

i think you are going to need some sort of specialized brace for an achilles. i'd talk to a podiatrist or an orthopedist.

The Reebok high tops are the BEST!!!<3 We are required to wear them at Elite Cheer Michigan :) They are SO comfortable and give the ankles a lot of support :) But Ankle Braces are definitely a better way to go because that is exactly what an ankle brace is designed to do--give support, and stability.

My high school team wears high tops. I've noticed that my flyer, whose ankles used to go crazy and shake and roll when she was in a stunt, have really become much better with the high tops. If you lace and velcro them tight enough they really give a lot of extra support and stability.

I was talking to a girl last week who had to wear the reeboks for her team. She hates them and said they're actually worse for her ankles. According to her the bottoms are so skinny your foot hangs off the side (they are ridiculously skinny!) and when you go to tumble its easy to twist your ankle because your foot is all over the place!
