Yes they were I just went and looked! They were the only one in the large division, and there were 5 in small so I don't know why they didn't combine them since they were the only team... I know woodlands has a team in both divisions so I guess that's why. However it worked out in large youths favor because if woodlands didn't have a small team they would of been combined which would of put them in a close 2ndOur youth 1 is large. I remember that. Our youth one was next in line. The scores were super close!
We only have 7 teams though!! Plus we love seeing yall and im so nervous for the j3 division at aca! I'm not lying and yall are the only one who makes me nervousYou guys definitely have amazing teams! Which is good because we get to see tough comp. before nationals.
I know who you are talking about! Her daughter is SOOO cute! So happy we have their whole family!Wanted to add I actually have a close friend (she is like a sister to me) who has a CP on your youth 1. So, I yell and scream for both teams! :)

I really wish our gym would buy in on this philosophy and coach everyone the same regardless of level. I think with our gym it boils down to not being as "tough" on the lower level kids so that they don't bail after one season. One of our worlds level coaches is my CP's private lesson coach. He is tough, doesn't take any nonsense or laziness, and doesn't waste time, but he is NOT an angry, yelling, intimidating coach either. He has expectations that anyone he is coaching should be giving 100%, just as he does, and if they don't he lets them know it. He stepped in on one practice with CP's team to help sort out some timing issues with tumbling, and you would have thought the world was ending. The kids didn't react well, and parents thought he was "too tough" and the team was "tool little" for that (a youth 2 team ages 7-11). I thought it was EXACTLY what the team needed, a little discipline and accountability.I coach Youth 1, Senior 3, Small Coed 5 and International Coed 5. I also started the season coaching our Senior 2. I think its important for the "World Team" Coaches to work with the lower levels. At our gym, we care about all of our teams. Last year was my first year coaching level 1 (Ive coached Level 2-5 my whole life). I wouldn't trade last season for anything. Level 1 is my new favorite level to coach. Im shocked more gyms don't have that mentality of Worlds coaches must coach lower levels.
We are at a fairly small gym, but it is the best gym within comfortable driving distance. To get anywhere else I would have to drive over an hour an we cannot do that. CP dances as well as cheers and we just cannot make the 1 1/2 hour drive to a mid sized gym work. To get to a truly large gym would be 2 1/2 hours one way minimum. Is your CP at a small gym @cheer25mom ? We spent many a year at a small gym and finally made the jump to a big gym. CP wanted to progress but that was difficult due to the same situation. Some kids were there just for fun, while others were serious about the sport yet they got put on same team because of the limited number of kids. We've found at the big gym there is a level for everyone and the levels are more true. They typically don't place a level 1 on a level 2 team.
