Well, I just received my daughter's schedule(Thursday) and they have them competing at a total of 8 competitions:
Local competitions(last than 90 minute drive) 1 day =3
Local but 2 days and more than 2 hour drive= 1
Out of State 3 to 4 hours away - 2 days = 1
Flights - 2days = 3
In retrospect, my daughter's team had a total of 10 competitions on their schedule last year, but only competed at 8, due to cancellations... So, it is no telling if more can be added to your cp's schedule, just have fun...

Yup :) We lost one comp off our list last year due to an ice storm.

Our mini team is doing 4 competitions while our youth, junior, and senior teams are doing 6. They are doing 2 local 1 day comps that are only a 1-2 hour drive, 1 out of state 1 day comp that is a 4 hour drive, and 1 out of state 2 day comp that is a 5 hour drive. This is a huge step up from last season though because they only did 2 competitions I think? I know the mini parents and athletes are thrilled to be doing more comps this season and seem happy that they don't have to travel as much as the higher level teams.

My minis did 6 last year with the rest of the gym doing between 8 and 10. Our pricing is based on level, so level 1's go to less competitions and only one travel comp, and it increases from there. From a pricing perspective, it's harder to get new parents who don't "get it" to pay for 8-9 competitions when their child is 6. It's easier to start as a lower commitment and build up as their kid gets older and more talented.

Now that i think about it, a competition every other weekend isn't really crazy. Last season in January we had a competition the first weekend (small HS one) (the power actually went out at this competition), then the next weekend we had a bigger high school competition, then we had ATC, which is a pretty big competition up here, then i think 1-2 weekends off, then a national competition, then the next weekend a really really really horrible 1 day competition, so we competed almost every weekend. (March/April/May were a lot slower and less competitions)

We have 9 competitions this season spread out from December to May.

Sorry to get off topic, last summer - August 2013 Disney Cruise, my daughter met a nice girl on your team - Empire Allstars - I believe she was on your Jr1 or Sr 2 team (not too sure), but it will be nice if the girls can connect at a competition - Just wondering if Empire Allstars will be competing at Encore or Beast (AC)?

Which cruise was it? Fantasy Eastern? 8/24/2013? If it was that sailing it was my daughter lol. If not then yes we'll be at Beast in AC.

Yes I'm sure they'll find each other at the comp. Good luck with your season!

Slightly off topic, but does Oak Harbor High School still run a competition? That one was one of my favorites, mostly because it was the first time I got to see a 'real' level 5 team and Kentwood High School.
I don't think so. i've never gone to one at least. Most school competitions are run at Kentwood, Skyline, and i think theres one at Gig Harbor HS.

Our Mini 2 team has 7 competitions (although one is a gym showcase so not a real "competition") and our Youth 2 team has 8 competitions (again, one is a showcase)

CP's youth team does 6 plus a showcase, all between Dec and May. All but one are a four hour drive or less from home. I can't imagine competing every other weekend. Too expensive (since even a comp 2 hours from home would require one night in a hotel), not to mention the potential for burnout and injury. Then there's the time needed for weekend homework, family celebrations and friend activities. Also, with two other kids not in cheer, it just wouldn't work for our family.

Just to add they're all out of state. 8 with a minimum driving distance of 1.5 hours and one that requires a flight.

We only have one bid comp in our state and we refuse to go that one anymore! I wish we did not have to travel so much. We have Nj 3 times, Ma 4 times, Ri and Mrytle beach. Ugh hate to think of all that $ for travel.
