Do you think standing tumbling is more important than run tumbling in all star cheer? I have noticed during standing tumbling you usually have all girls participating, for example the majority of the time all girls on a level 4 have and throw their standing tuck, but in run tumbling it seems like you can have some girls throw passes twice while other girls are helping with a basket toss or doing a cool dance move. I also noticed for try outs our gym is pretty strict with standing tumbling requirements, but tend to give wiggle room on run tumbling pass requirements. How is this at your gym?

It's all about the quantity scores...I'm no expert but I've noticed it's a lot harder to "hide" the fact you don't have squad standing tumbling. But since running tumbling is a lot more fast-paced and takes up more space, it's easier to make it LOOK like there are a lot more people tumbling than there really is.

There is a score specifically for the number of athletes that throw the same standing tumbling pass at one time. You can only max out that score if ALL (or all -1 or 2) throw sync standing tumbling.

Running tumbling is cumulative, meaning that all passes you throw over the whole routine count towards your score. That's why the same girls can go several times and still count towards the score. Even if your whole team can throw level appropriate running tumbling skills, it makes more sense to have the girls with speciality passes to go more than once instead of putting in all the girls with bare minimum passes.

Right. This is why some gyms won't keep those girls on the team who are awesome flyers or other things but not at level on tumbling. It really drags down your score when you get to the point of like 5 of 25 girls not doing tucks.

See also: 20 doing tucks and 5 in the back throwing BHS. You think you're hiding them but the judges totally see it.

All of thst to say, yes it matters more because it's a SQUAD element.

Some competitions count recycled tumbling, with the same athlete doing more than one pass, or more skills, and others do not. I believe Varsity does, but I may be backwards. Standing tumbling is based on the number of athletes who do it so it makes sense that a gym would be stricter on standing tumbling if they mostly compete at comps that count recycled tumbling.

It doesn't usually matter scoresheet wise, I WILL say that I have gotten really good at noticing during running tumbling that there are only 10 people participating. #schoolcheerjudgingprobs
