All-Star Junior 5 At Worlds?

I have no opinion on this until I know exactly what CU's tweet meant. Not enough info for me yet. However, EPIC Brands already puts on a really great competition for Junior teams called Future 5. It is grown each year and I think 12 teams will be a part of it this year. It isn't centrally located and takes place mid-season but this EP already has a great junior 5 competition in place and I hate to see it upstaged by "another" EP.

I had heard of this, but thought it was one of those list type honors like Nfinity Generation Next, not an actual comp.

Which teams completed there?

Last year I know ece j5, ece ct j5, lites, super cells, all star one, sjs, and a few others competed. Lites won junior Coed, ece j5 won all girl and the overall.

I think, like people have said, that there would be fewer 10y/o getting full and hopefully perfecting ALL skills of level 4, which would also be good for the future of tumbling in the sport. It also wouldn't kill them to have another year or two on a level 4 team - it would most likely make them more all around athletes and better in all areas rather than just tumbling because thats exactly what comes with experience.

Those 10 year olds that have technically perfect fulls are very rare. I would rather see the Y4 division beef up and kids go into level 5 with actual twisting layouts instead of twisting balls of death.
I think moving the bottom age of seniors to 15 would mess with to many kids already competing but they could institute a process where coaches can have kids "compete up" an age group like other youth sports.

It's a shame, because CEA has produced some incredible junior routines. Ladies of Fire was comparable to a lot of senior 5 teams.

Ladies of Fire was a fun year. Very odd to be on a Small team though. Lol. That was a first for our family!!!

I see pros and cons. Reality though...decision is not likely to have anything to do with what is best for these athletes physically, emotionally, developmentally...The decision will be about $.

If it was international it would would be mostly us teams, I have cheered for 9years in the uk and never seen a j5 or this season if don't think we even have any restricted 5, most big competitions will have one or two junior 4 teams but never junior 5s.

So many times, I watch Worlds prelims and see teams that are pretty much Level 4 teams with two doubles and questionable technique. I wonder how much better it would be for those teams if they just competed Level 4 and perfected those skills before even thinking of making it a Worlds team?

I think World's should be changed to include all LVL 5 teams, tbh; Youth, Junior, and Seniors. Leave the Summit for everything LL 1-4; make World's everything R5-IOC6

Unpopular opinion: Every skill a kid gets doesn't NEED to be thrown in a routine immediately.

Imagine what would happen if Suzie got her full or even double, but her team (gasp) STAYED level 4, she (GASP) stayed a Level 4 athlete, and kept working on that full in privates, and didn't compete it until maybe (gasp) NEXT season when it was really ready, even if that meant she wasn't on an R5 team as soon as she turned 10 (or a Worlds team right at 12.)

I think that having junior 5's competing for summit bids is an issue. The bids are awarded by level meaning that one unrestricted division (jr 5) would be competing against 3restricted divisions (y5, jr res 5, sr R5). One can argue it's not fair to those other teams because the unrestricted routines have higher scores but at the same time if you're going by percentage of perfection it's hard to compare the different levels of skills.
Right now Junior 5 is basically an island. Not a worlds division and not restricted. I think it would be great if they could compete for bids against senior teams. Give them their own division, put it wherever you want and you'll have the added bonus of making the ESPN center worlds venues LESS crowded as some junior teams took the bids of senior teams that weren't really up to snuff but got lucky in their region.

I would actually really like to hear your opinion. And the opinion of really any parent who actually has a kid who is of age and skill to potentially take part in a hypothetical junior 5 event.
