All-Star Maryland Twisters Expanding To Virginia

I to thought it was cocky at first, but I have not had any negative vibes from them. My daughter has been there since they opened the doors and we absolutely love it there. I'm a social bee and I've talked to several parents and coaches there and everything has been positive. The talent there is off the hook.

There have also been "spies" from other gyms coming in to "check it out" and then run back to tell the owners of the gyms who's there, who's trying out...etc. Then the parent gets a call from the previous gym or gets harassed for going over to CT. There is so much drama going on now that it's ridiculous. If your house was in order then you wouldn't have to worry about the new gyms opening up.

My daughter has been with Cheer Tyme for the past three seasons and it has been a great experience! Also throughout that entire time I have seen nothing but positive attitudes and great sportsmanship from every coach at Cheer Tyme at all of our locations. I expect the new gym will be run with this same level of class because trust me Cheer Tyme is a class act :)

If everyone would put the amount of time into cultivating great athletes (and parents) with great sportsmanship qualities that they do into worrying about who's trying out where, NOVA could support plenty of great gyms that would enhance the enjoyment of the sport. Just be a gym with great morals and the athletes will line up at your door!

that's what i find interesting. everything fell thru last year...could it be because Cheer Tyme expanded into the area and were able to field a LAG team their first year?

I wish I could find the quote from MT last year saying they didn't see the market for a gym in VA. Maybe I'm not recalling correctly though-- can someone verify that was their reasoning?

I don't know their reasons for deciding not to expand last year, but I am certain that they would have only done it if they knew they could provide the best product for the new Twister athletes, which means finding both space and coaches. I would not be surprised it they just felt like it wasn't feasible in the short time period between Va Vipers closing and the May tryout time frame (which was a matter of weeks). I do know they did their best to support those athletes, allowing them to finish out their season. Maryland Twisters have had a busy couple of years with two major mergers. First merging with Superstarz to create the Maryland Twisters Waldorf location and then to merge with Marlins to grow the Glen Burnie location. If they have decided they are ready this year to take on the VA market, I for one am excited to see what they produce!
