Yaaaasssss preach. Like just because I'm on level 3 doesn't mean I don't work just as hard. And I know level 5 girls who cross to level 2 and it's still hard for them. Moral of the story: cheer is a hard sport. Levels are there to divide skill sets and that's all

Level 5 girls that cross to Level 2...

(Just using your post as a jumping off point)

I feel like this is one of the biggest misconceptions about cheer - that any routine lower than level 5/6 isn't difficult.

Yes, to a level 5 athlete a lower level routine is obviously going to be easier, but if you are a Level 2 athlete with Level 2 skills then that is just as difficult and as stressful to you as a L5 routine is to a L5 athlete.
I always get the vibe that people think anyone below L5 doesn't work as hard because they don't have a "difficult" routine. But they so do.

(Btw, I'm not a cheerleader so I could be wrong with the difficulty feel of the routines so I'm making educated guesses here)
I took it as someone at a higher level saying it would be fun to do a lower level routine and not as patronizing the lower levels. People didn't make a level 5 team overnight - nearly everyone has been on a lower level many points during their cheer career . If you were on level 4 it would be fun to do a level 2 routine, because it is easier given you have been performing at a higher level . I think you are reading too much into this.

Nooooo I wasn't referencing the person that posted in this thread at all!! (who ever it was plz don't think I was!)

It's just a feeling I can sense a lot, particularly between L4/5/6 cheerleaders looking "down" (Like tweets that say "Lol, back walkovers are so easy I wish I could still just do them in routines". Not directly mean, per say) to the difficulty of 1/2/3 routines. To the athletes on those respective levels, the routines are difficult.

Those people are mistaken, I swear a back walkover is harder than a standing stuck.

They're just as stressful as level 5 routines

I'm well aware of that.
But that's also for level 2 and 3's
And I wasn't knocking on level 2 or 3, but as an individual who's cheered level 6. A level two or three routine would be a breeze for ME I feel.
And as someone who has only ever competes levels 5 and 6 I'm interested.
And I really want to.
I see why open 4 has been alluring to many retired level 5's with the stress being lower and what not.
To think I could go through a routine and do a tuck or. Bhs and that be it. And not have to worry about twisting catching a rewind at the top.
Personally I just want to experience it once.
Also I coach all levels primarily level 2 so I am well aware that level 2 can be difficult. The stunt sequence my senior 2 does out senior 5 would struggle doing.
I know because I've seen it. Or for instance where I fill in on a stunt and it doesn't automatically hit or stay up because I'm there.
To insinuate otherwise kills me really.
I tell my kids all the time I know it's level x but I know it's hard for you too. Just like my level 5/6 routine I hard for me. But that's the point. People don't get that the s#!7s hard at any level.
That said level 2 is one of my absolute favorites.
And people need to stop assuming that because someone makes a comment about it being easy in some way that they are trying to say its easy period because it's level 2. That truly pisses me off.
The terms novice, intermediate and advanced apply to everyone at each level and given that my seniors are more on the advanced side of things I think I'm the last person you need to be telling how stressful 2 and 3 are 'cause I've been dealing with it all season.
K just feel like in would actually be more joyful throughout the routine.
Thanks.

ETA: I saw your later post after posting this. So sorry about going on the defense right away. :)

Just saw a local production of Next to Normal the other night and it was amazing. I was balling and so was most of the rest of the audience. I already knew all of the music because my brother (an actor) played the soundtrack in the car once a few years ago and I became obsessed. From the music I gathered the basic plot line but the actual show was even heavier than I thought. Wishing I could've seen it on broadway with the original cast!

Never heard that one.

I deeply apologize if anyone feels like I'm spamming, but could I get everyone's feedback on this rant video I made a few years back? I have a tendency to speak really quickly, and it gets worse when I'm nervous or irritated (I know that this applies to a lot of people and, after all, this was a rant video). I can understand what I'm saying, but I want everyone's feedback so that I can see how well my message got across.

Edit: Days, I meant a few days back.

I would go for allstar, purely because I think it would be a more worthwhile investment of the money in terms of the time span (I assume the london trip is 2 weeks long ish?) and you would gain more skills through doing your senior year of allstar.

The London trip does sound fun though but I'm sure there will be many more opportunities for you to travel there in the future!
I agree, and they can't take All-American away from you if you don't go, right? Having that status could help you later on in the industry, it shows that you are versatile.

I can stunt L5, tumbled around L4 before I aged out and competed at levels 2,3,4, and 6. Let me tell you, The level 2 routine I filled in for for the last half of my senior year was the most tiring routine I ever had to perform. It was a relief not worrying about hitting my tumbling but it's exhausting. Especially the stunts since everything's at a prep level or lower and it feels heavier overall since you have to control how high you put someone up (hope that makes sense). Plus, level 2 has A LOT of tumbling in their routines. Even if it's just back handsprings, it's still super tiring. Dont underestimate the lower levels. But they are a lot more fun to perform :P

Prep level lib sequences are actually so much more tiring than extended ones

Omg yes, especially with senior sized flyers. Last year in our pyramid we went to a single leg prep before we did a front flip, and that stinking prep was probably the hardest part of that whole pyramid. It's natural to want to use your back and arms to hold it instead of your legs and that's why it's hard
