Just read about a teen girl beaten by other teens for saying she supported Trump. Also video of a protester saying people need to die over this. Happening on BOTH sides people!

I'm not sure how many times you have to point this out. No one is condoning this. It's not ok from either group. No one is denying the extremists.

Take a step back and realize the impact is REAL for a lot of folks here. It's not a video they saw online of someone getting yelled at. They ARE getting yelled at. They are watching it happen. Their families are being threatened. Their friends are being abused. It's not a viral post to prove a point, it's real life.

I point it out because no one else seems to want to acknowledge that the consequences are real ON BOTH SIDES. This young girl is REALLY in the hospital, but none of you seem to care about that. No, it isn't right on either side but you have to be willing to acknowledge that it's going BOTH way before it can be stopped. None of you seem to be willing to even consider that Hillary supporters committing acts of violence is a bad thing. I am reminding you that it's happening because no one wants to acknowledge it, and if they do they want to minimize. It's just as bad.

I will continue to point it out. For every story you guys have, there is one on the other side. Why can't we just agree that ALL violence as a result of this election is a problem rather than minimizing one side.

An FYI, I have been dealing with it as well. There was a LOT of nastiness directed at me at work the last 2 days based on my skin color. I didn't vote for Trump. I DONT think he's the best leader for our country. I don't think Hillary is either.nBut it's assumed I supported Trump. and as a result, my kids and some coworkers were pretty nasty. I dealt with it. I didn't take it out on them. You cannot deny that it's happening both ways and ALL of it needs to stop. It's no different than a Trump supporter doing it to someone, and has no less of an impact. And before you say it, yes it is as widespread as what is going on the other way, the mainstream media just doesn't want to acknowledge it.

Its great that trump is all for LGBTQ rights, but his racial remarks have done, in my mind, permanent damage regardless if he were to turn around and says he loves all races all of a sudden. I dont think riots are going to end anytime soon, You cant tell people that you want to send them back to their own country because you dont agree with their religion or claim that mexicans are rapists, etc. And then expect people to be all rainbows, when you try to take it all back.
Im not surprised trump won the majority of the south, the south is known historically for a reason and now we've opened that big ol' can of worms back up again. I dont blame people for rioting, especially people of color and differing nationalities. However i dont think they should be taking that anger out on any ol' white person driving in their car, thats called assault and you deserve to sit in jail.

in other news good ol George Zimmerman is claiming a black man tried to assault him for trying to shake his hand... Can someone take this guy off florida's hands already...

"The South" is not the issue, poverty is the issue. I'm not well traveled but, I've done mission work and lived up North, Mid West and now in the South. On immigration there is a huge difference between the North and the South. You don't see many Canadian's coming in illegally because life in Canada is good and it's rather difficult to swim into the Northeast. Now look at the South, outside of our borders is extreme poverty, of course they want to come in. The majority of the people coming in are truly people that want a better life but, here's reality, there aren't immediate jobs for people that don't speak the language and don't have paperwork. Desperation sets in, crime increases (it's not made up), and people start linking skin tone and race with crime. Police fear poverty and those that understand talk, buy groceries, repair things, etc but, we can't put the weight of poverty on a small percentage of police officers to change the temperature.

If people want to make a difference in America, stop the inflammatory dialect which landed us here in the first place. Forgive, move on, make a difference. By the way Trump didn't just win the South, he won the majority of the states. He, also, had a higher African American and Latino vote than Kerry. Something angered people enough to vote outside of the establishment and my guess is it boils down to the checkbook, it usually does.

Have to considered the fact that maybe the mainstream media isn't covering it because black on white violence is not a social issue? I'm sorry you've been harassed. No one deserves it. But you got dirty looks. People are being assaulted and I can guarantee to you it's happening for anti-Trump supporters in numbers that surpass the incidents you keep claiming the media doesn't want you to see. I'm sorry but I want to know about the minorites like myself who are being targeted after a man who ran for presidency with hate being his platform is elected.

I was talking with a woman yesterday about how her Latino students wanted t to know how she voted because they needed to feel safe. How about instead of complaining that you're being judged, you step up and let the coworkers know that you support them. Because something in your argument makes it seem like you don't and that would make any one angry.

No, I don't think that is true. I think that no one wants to admit it's a social issue, but it is. People ARE getting assaulted, and just like you, the media chooses to minimize that and say isn't an issue. It is, and even before this election I have watched it play out in my community. Recently, a young white man was attached and killed by 3 young black men, no motive other than he was white and they wanted his wallet. Those kinds of assaults happen with regularity but the media doesn't cover them. If 3 white kids had beaten a black boy to death, you can bet the national media would have run with it. You want to truly open your eyes? Start looking at crime statistics. Look at how many black on white assaults take place vs the reverse. It's a real problem, but because of the current climate information his country no one wants to admit it.

As for supporting my coworkers, I support equality for EVERYONE. I don't care what color you are, everyone deserves to be treated the same, and after working with me for 10 years, they should know that. They know me and know my stance but they are choosing to act out because that doesn't matter. I deserve it because I am white. That isn't ok and I DONT support them acting that way. How I voted shouldn't effect wether anyone feels safe in my classroom. It makes no difference. No one should ever be forced to reveal their vote. My actions should do that, but they have apparently ceased to matter. Actually, teachers are NOT supposed to reveal who they support politically. It isn't allowed in the classroom.

They robbed him solely because he was white. That's a crime that happens everyday. That's not a crime that follows a century long tradition of violence against American citizens. You're right, a gang assault on a black child would make news. Because it follows the proven, historical violence of black people in this country. I know the statistics. I also know that the facts mirror the fact that we are the minority population. The current climate is that there is hate, targeted towards minorities that's being pushed by public figures, by politicians, and we are seeing it manifest in violence of innocent people. I'm out right insulted by the fact that you think people are ignoring the violence on the other side. We aren't, violence is not okay. But this is beyond the 2000s this goes back this is deeper. But I envy your perspective. I envy your ability to not know what it's like to wonder if your teacher is rooting for a man that wants to break up your family, or judges you by your religion. You know how many people who smile in my face and I've found out they're against causes like BLM that directly impact me? It changes how I interact, how I feel around them. I don't feel safe anymore.

I know teachers aren't supposed to tell their students, but I know several of my former teachers have spoken out in support of their students who are scared-these teachers are black, white, hispanic etc. Because they're in a school where more than half of their students are a part of a group targeted by the next president, and they want them to know their teacher has their back.

So you are saying that racially motivated violence is only significant if it is against a minority because there is a longer history of that? That attitude in and of itself is racist. You are right. It goes deeper, so does minority violence against whites. It's rooted in different sides of same long term narrative and is no less significant, and no more justified. It also has to be addressed and stopped in order to reset the narrative in this country. You cannot heal the problem without acknowledging all facets of it, as unpleasant and uncomfortable as that is.

You only see one side of the hate being fostered in this country. I am saying it's happening on both sides. No one seems to want to acknowledge that people on both sides of this have reason to be afraid. I have had moments over the last couple of days where I have definitely been fearful. So have many others I know. It's willfully ignorant to believe that the violence and fear is one sided. In this day and age in this country, everyone has the ability to engender that fear equally.

I'm the only black girl in my childhood friend group. I watched them navigate going to a high school where they are the minority. I heard Hispanic girls call them out their names, judged because my friend dates a hispanic boy. I've seen my fair skinned Hispanic friends get picked on. But they've seen me get bullied for how I wore my hair, they've seen teachers accuse me of cheating when I did well on assignments, they've seen people call me not "black enough" because I chose to be friends with them. So yeah, I 've seen it from both sides. I agree, racism is not just for blacks, it's when anybody mistreats someone for their skin color. I'm just saying MY people, were killed for trying to vote in the past 5o years. That's thirty years before I was born. I'm just saying Black people were kidnapped and killed for stumbling in the wrong neighborhood. It was a black child KILLED for looking at a woman the wrong way. Not every crime committed is racially motivated. But these were. A lot of them are. But again, I truly wished I could see it the way you do. In the past few days you've been fearful, try your whole life.

And unless and until we HONESTLY address racism from ALL sides children will continue to grow up that way. And, for the record, the last few days aren't the only tine I have been fearful because of my skin color. It has happened at different times over the course of most of my life as well, but it's not ok for white people to talk about it in most cases, because of reactions like we are seeing here. No one should have to experience it.

I appreciate your optimism. I assume you're older than me, and I only named a handful of moments that I've been scared and angry in my 20 years on this Earth. And I grew up in an ultra liberal, ultra diverse Blue county. I only can pray that things get better when I leave my protective bubble.

This might be an odd question, but what do you think motivated most people to vote for Trump? I just can't wrap my head around what really made people vote for him , seeing how he presented himself during the campaign. To me he just seems so unlikeable , nothing like Obama, who on the contrary always came across as a very likeable character (asides from the main political issues)
I just can't believe anything that comes out of his mouth

Over here some people have been worried ever since the election, that we might have a similar turnout whenever our election comes around. Our chancellor has made some questionable decisions these past 2 years when it came to the refugee situation. I personally think she was just trying to do something positive which backfired but there are a lot of people here who area really mad at her for it and are prone to vote for a very questionable party. So seeing how DT brought so many people on his side with his racist comments and outbursts really worries me too and again, makes me wonder why people really voted for him

I literally said:

What more would you like? I am so confused.
