as of right now they are still classified as New York cheer for this weekend at Reach the Beach. they are still listed as a worlds team but moved up to medium... does that make them eligible for a bid? I'm sorry this is just all wrong to me.

They are eligible for a bid in any other division than Small Senior as far as USASF is concerned (hence them competing Medium); however, I don't see how they are eligible for a bid from Reach the Beach as it does not appear they are bringing 50% of their program (and that is one of RTB requirements for a bid).

Are they competing as a different gym? Getting some type of special treatment?

As a parent, I have to agree that it would make me question what type of program I had my child in if they don't even understand the basic rules. It does not matter if the athlete turned 12 on Sept. 1 - that is after August 31 and that is clearly against the very black and white rules that USASF has issued.

I do feel bad for the athletes involved in this situation.

personally I think it was island Xtreme that went first..

Island xtreme was the first long island team to ever go to worlds I believe, but I think it was co-ed. So nycheer may be the first all girl on long island. Ix is the first team to go to worlds from long island, as far as I know*(*disclaimer to avoid being slammed if I am mistaken)

My daughter may never be part of a worlds team. She doesn't have much of a voice, but she shines loudly and proudly while on the mat! NY Cheer has made her voice come alive! She loves this gym, and everything attached.

Congratulation that you and your daughter have found a gym to be happy at. The Kool-Aid though comes with a shelf life.

No..it said they were the first ALL GIRL team

Worlds didn't start until 2004
