I'm sure I can't be the only one who is really over all of this Trinity drama. The way I see it, Gianni started a new gym with the help of the Davenports, who used their money to fund a lot of things that some people may not like, but they can't be the first ones to do it, and some of these crazy things people think they offered were probably rumors or lies. I really don't think people would be offering up such absurd benefits (clothing lines? really?) just in return for cheering for their gym, though I do not doubt that free tuition, uniforms, etc. were thrown out there. Gianni, as a long-time persona in the cheerleading world with many connections, wanted to find athletes for his new gym. While it is not right to "steal" athletes from another gym, these athletes did go willingly, no one forced them. JP did, in some sense, have a legitimate reason to be mad about very talented athletes leaving. But was it necessary to lash out the way he did? Absolutely not. Personally, I think he acted like a child and seriously embarrassed himself, especially since it is beginning to look like he began many of the Trinity rumors. I really think this drama would have blown over much more quickly had he not spoken out so publicly about Trinity.
I do not think he is completely at fault, though. The coaches and owners of Trinity countered JP's attacks in the completely wrong fashion. They only made it worse for themselves, and brought themselves down to JP's level, possibly even lower as some might argue. I think there is a lot they could have done to take the high road and make themselves actually look good to the cheer world, but they chose the path of retaliation instead. However, I do have to commend them for facing all of the backlash head on, even if it did only cause more problems.
Overall, I think it's just very sad that the athletes are having to deal with the brunt of the criticism, and that people are taking out their frustration with the coaches/owners on the athletes by criticizing what, all hate aside, is not a terrible routine. There are some really talented kids on that team, and I hate to think that they are already being labeled because of the poor decisions of some adults that are supposed to have the kids' best interests at heart. I think the adults acted immature and perpetuated a great deal of drama that should have just been settled between two grown men. Now I think people need to start to forget about it because what's done is done. Both gyms have begun their seasons now and nothing can be taken back that has been said or done by either party. This should be about the athletes, and the owners and coaches who hold so much hostility towards each other should have the decency to finally set their differences aside for the benefit of their athletes and the sport.
