I felt so uncomfortable in them because the part covering my stomach never seemed to fit right on me ( it was way too big) and would always come up and get at messed up when I was tumbling or flying.

Could you not have altered it? That seems a little strange, we've never had problems with full tops whatsoever.

lol i swear this is the last thing im adding to this thread because there is too much of a clash between opposing sides and really nobodys going to win lol but i thought this was rather funny i found it on tumblr
That crop top covers more then the uniforms that are causing problems. Heck that crop top covers more then about 75% of crop tops.

Are all members of the NCAA board and committees voted on by the schools that they control? It is an honest question because I have no idea. I would assume that each team does not get a vote on who represents the NCAA but I could be wrong. Same goes for USAG or any other major sports governing body.

I dont know the answer either but my question would be if a for profit company benefits from the decisions they make.

I see your point about the profit ... but the fact is the USASF has been the governing body for quite sometime. The USASF was formed in 2004 by various competition companies to act as the national governing body for all star cheerleading. The main objective is to create a standard set of rules for judging that are to be followed by all competitions sanctioned by the Federation. At the same time, cheerleading coaches from all over the country organized themselves for the same rule making purpose, calling themselves the National All Star Cheerleading Coaches Congress (NACCC). In 2005, the NACCC was absorbed by the USASF and became their rule making body.[3] By late 2006, the USASF was ready to expand its reach even further, by facilitating the creation of the International All-Star Federation (IASF), the first international governing body for the sport of cheerleading.

If the coaches had concern with EPs and uniform companies making profit based on decisions then that should have been addressed when the joined with the USASF in 2005, or in the 7 years since. Gym owners and coaches are also for profit and it could be said that some of the arguments they have made is that these changes are going to quit cheer and hurt their business. I have heard that from Coach Troy regarding the crop top, I have read other coaches complain that girls maxing out their abilities and leaving the sport for gymnastics.... all of that effects their bottom line.

Even our own US Government commonly profits from decisions and laws made (they have even made laws in recent years to try to curb earmarking funds not that it has fully occurred) -- so to say that this is a unique situation and different to other governing bodies is not accurate,

I just don't see it as a profit driven thing. Every team I know of gets new unis every 2-3 years. Varsity is not the only company that makes them. They are giving gyms 3 years notice...that's three years to find a different company other than varsity to get your uniform.

I don't disagree with anything you say here. Cheer though in the big picture is still in its infancy do we want to continue with our governing board acting like the US government and earmarks? I know you might find this hard to believe but the uniform issue of all the rules is one I could care less about. Its the big picture of the rules that raises my blood pressure. We have a governing board that makes rules it is unable to enforce or have an appeals for, and the decision makers can make rules that will directly help the bottom line of Varsity. Lets face it have you ever bought anything at worlds that doesnt come from Varsity? (maybe food lol) I believe that it is imperative to have a governing body that does not have a conflict of interest. One that can be elected and voted out. Would this not be in the best interest of Cheer? Rules made by this type of board I would respect even if I didn't like them.

I don't think that the uniform thing is being done soley to make Varsity money, look at all the teams who have switched to GK uniforms. GK doesn't have a seat on that board and they would make money from it. If you think about it Varsity will be making just as much money from these uniforms as they would be without the rule. Teams would still need to purchase new uniforms.

If you want to argue for keeping crop tops then sure do it, but don't use "it will hurt my business" when you are getting onto someone else for trying to help out their business. I have yet to hear a reason why it is necessary to wear a crop top to perform a routine for 2:30.

The clubs are a for profit business the usasf is supposed to be NON profit. Get the difference?

I do not see it as a profit making decision it is simply that certain people believe that a full top portray's an image that fits more closely to thier views and so they then mandated that everyone else conform to it.
When this is instituted these same people will next find fault with a back cut out so they will ban that. Then they will not like seeing so much of the shoulders so they will ban that.
Not arguing for a crop top's are a right they are not. However I am arguing that more then just the few unelected representatives should be involved in decisions that change us.

This will all be put to the test as the time gets closer.

People assume that the USASF is not a non-profit. While the USASF has a lot of varsity reps it is NOT owned by Varsity. Varsity isn't the cleanest run business out there, but people make them out to be the devil when they are just trying to make money like every other business out there. The USASF though, is not a Varsity brand so it is not making money from Varsity products. Varsity makes money from it's products, not the USASF.

What teams are you most excited to see? Weber has become one of my favorites! Their stunting and tumbling skills are incredible!
