they specified a tshirt but they also said you cannot arrive (or shouldnt arrive) in street clothes or pajamas so technically it is part of the USASF 'guidlines' that we should all have warmups (i know its not specified or set in stone but its one of those things)

You could easily show up in your skirt and a tshirt though so no need for an expensive warm up. Then before competition time you put your top on and go. I don't think that they would say anything if you didn't have your top on under your tshirt.

thats easy for people in warmer states however canada and northern states at winter comps just doesnt work so well lol, i know my gym last year they had us show up in the team zip up sports bra and or tshirt and sweats then change into full uniform (again i have problems with constantly pulling tshirts over top of the hair and makeup as it causes sloppy looking cheerleaders)

I would just like to keep everyone's focus on the real problem here....

There is no problem with our "image" and there is no need for the USASF to dictate dress for the ALL programs. If they
(or the few people that insist on applying their standards to others) feel that a particular uniform is to short, provocative, glitzy, or whatever else they can come up with then that INDIVIDUAL program should be diciplined.

Furthermore most of you are missing the bigger argument that we are allowing too much UNCHECKED power to be acquired by the USASF along with an outdated and out of touch Executive Board. If they can mandate change without a vote by a majority of member gyms, coaches then this is just the beginning. crop tops, makeup, and bows today....whats next Shoes?? hairstyle?? Today its double fulls and bounding skills....tomorrow it could be basket tosses, stepping out of a punch front (which I would argue has injured more then its fair share), or jumps to back???

The point is that we cannot allow one organization to operate without membership checks and balances, and we should never allow the voices of a few dictate what should be decided by the majority.

VERY well said

In a cheer magazine that highlighted teams that won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from Worlds 2 years ago one of the pictures was of a flyer pulling a scorpion and her crop top was pulling so far up that the bottom of her ta-ta was falling out of the bottom of her uniform top! I was mortified that there wasn't someone at the cheer magazine paying close attention to the pictures they were using!! I felt so bad for that girl. I have also seen some that ride up but thank goodness their sports bra doesn't! Plus some girls' torso's are much longer than others so I don't think you an specify 10" between the top of the skirt and the bottom of the top. I just couldn't believe all of the rules they are trying to change all at once. I feel for families of kids that would be double teaming on Junior AND Senior teams....they need to buy TWO tops!!! Gyms might have a harder time getting kids to double team because of that!

....I'm Scratching my head on this one....?

Scratching your head at what? Her breast was hanging out because the top was too small, had she had a top that was an appropriate length it wouldn't happen. Sure she should have had a sports bra on, but you shouldn't have to rely on a sport bra to keep you covered, plus with some of the tops teams have now you can't even wear a proper bra.

maybe I shouldn't have said ta-ta?? ;)

her uniform being to small doesnt necessarily have anything to do with the gyms should could have just grown and lets be honest when pulling air positions its almost impossible for uniforms not to move especially when pulling a scorp regarless of if they are half are full tops

You are right they will move, but they shouldn't move to the point of becoming exposed. Sure the uniform could have been too small for her, but it are cases like that which make it a problem. Like myself and others have said blame the gyms who have pushed it too far.

exactly blame the gym make them the ones who have to deal with it, give the owners a penalty for the uniforms rather then the parents or athletes that have to pay for the uniforms, i know its 3 years from now and blah blah blah but still (and a side note to the whole uniform thing for those who have issues with half tops being too short stop giving your athletes the option of how much fabric they want on their uniform i know waay too many girls that ask to have fabric taken off rather then added because they want things shorter)

No I just couldn't understand if you were arguing for or against ... That's all

How can there be a penalty if there is no standard? That's an honest question because I've seen that solution mentioned a few times in the last week or so.

Common sense....
All sensitive points are designed to be covered.
A general expectation that the uniform is functional for the sport of cheerleading.

That would be my answer

You can't put a penalty on something when there is no rule about the length. It would be at the discretion of the EP, would you rather the rule change from competition to competition? I would be fine if the USASF made a rule that stated it can on be a certain number of inches from the waist band of the skirt, but the USASF would rather say hey we are going to limit the number of crop tops worn. They could easily take the college route and say the skirt can't be below the hip bones and the top has to be so many inches from the waist band, so if you don't like what they have come up with now make a proposal and send it in for the meeting.
