I'm kind of surprised by the responses here. The OP posted something that she saw on IG asking people to report the picture if they see it. I know that if this were my child whose picture was being circulated (photoshopped or not) I'd hope that people who saw it would do what they could to get the picture taken down. We talk about internet safety all of the time, but when asked to help, kids get accused (backhandedly) of using it to gain internet popularity? Not cool.

i haven't seen it, nor do i want to (though i'd report it if i came across it)

i certainly don't think it's a publicity stunt for followers. all i'm saying is teenage girls sometimes make silly choices and it's not difficult for an angry ex boyfriend to send the photo to a "hater" page. you can also figure out in seconds if it's photoshopped. and again, either way i feel bad. would this mess be occurring if "cheerleb" wasn't a thing and her accounts were on private? probably not. how many celebrities have had naked picture of them photoshopped? with "fame" comes people who want to hurt you. here is an example of the downside.

Oh, I agree with you. It's definitely a learning experience.

No matter what events led up to this moment, that is an image that should not be circulating. I wish that there was something that we could do more than report it. I google image searched it and nothing is hitting from this edited sun version, which is probably good, because that means that no one can find the image from Fierceboard links.

I wasn't accusing her of doing it because I don't know that she did, she is definitely known in the cheer world and I know everyone wants to be in her business. If I came across the pic wether photoshopped or not I would definitely report it. I just thought for her on good, (instead of people searching for a pic in hopes that is her they will get to see) that if she did post the original it would make it less of an issue.

No one is questioning her as it could of just as easily been me at that age, of course I wasn't a cheerlebrity either so I could get away with it!

Who cares if it's photoshopped or not? Either way a 'nude' picture of a young girl is being shown all over the internet and needed to be dealt with, and the original account is no longer in use so I would believe it has been dealt with and now her family can decide in private if they would like to bring the case to authorities to possibly press chargers or ect. It shouldn't matter to us if the photo is real or not.

It's not a secret that Erica can be a bit of a hot mess sometimes but she's OUR hot mess. Saying that she somehow should expect or deserve this is crazy. She's not a Kardashian, she's a kid. Even if she did take a picture and it is somehow out doesn't mean it's okay to distribute it.
Saying she brought this on herself is the same as saying that girl in the half top deserved to be assaulted. She is a human being and a minor that deserves to be respected regardless of mistakes she may make.

Can I get an AMEN??

It is a way different legal matter if the photo is real or not.

To expand, if it is a photochop there is a real legal case against the person who made it. It's distribution isn't illegal unless the body happens to also be a minor or the photo is too realistic and cannot be proven to be a 'chop', and then someone could file a case against them.

If it is real every single person who has posted and distributed it can be brought to court and taken up on child pornography charges, even the person in the photo if it was originally sent to someone. The court does NOT mess around with this stuff and you can carry a sex offender title on you for life from it. I am all in agreement that people make mistakes, especially kids, but FB is not the place to have this 'trial'. The court of public opinion honestly doesn't matter that much in these types of cases.

PS - If you found this photo and sent it to someone to ask their opinion about if it is a photoshop and it ends up being real you ALSO carry the risk of distributing child porn. Even unintentional distribution can really get you in trouble.

as it is disturbing. no one at least from what i have seen, has yet to confirm if they have even seen this so called nude photo. im not huge on twitter or instagram, but i think her announcing it, and then posting the blurred out photo made problems worse.

i do have a social media account, but im not a fan of people in general posting about every waking thing they do, including personal crap. youd be amazed at some of the personal moments/thoughts people like to share.... i think teens just need to learn what is and isnt appropriate to announce to their 500+ friends or followers.
