We beat other teams also, hit zero both days and won jackets and scored our highest score this season but as per the declaration it was a no go. A junior team in another division, same level scored .07 ahead of us so our senior team was out. One of the teams that we beat twice already has a wild card bid from a comp we didn't attend. They are going to summit even tho we have beat them by a full 3 points. That is a hard pill to swallow for our kids.....
What's sad is that last year this same comp had paid bids and at large bids. This year they only had at large. I guess their numbers weren't high enough to keep those paid bids. We definitely would have had an at large if the comp had kept last year's bids. But its a system and you have to know how to game the system. We didn't attend the right comps lolol
There's a team from NC that's an open team and they did exceptionally well at a big comp but they were passed over for a paid bid based on declarations. It doesn't seem fair. They want kids to stay in the sport and keep making money off of them but when the kids stay and end up on open teams, they can't get bids or can't get a much deserved paid bid. I definitely agree with you. I did hear they are re visiting bids for open teams next season???
We are in the opposite boat. Lots of 5r teams here and not a lot of bids. If you look at Sr 5r medium and large...there are only one per division with a bid, it is totally nuts.
It Is hard gto be in a sport that I feel is not fair! Same comp this year and last we were 2nd and 3rd place in bid order but didn't get a bid.....last year a 10th/11th place AG got it because of declaration. I do hope it is looked at, discussed and changed.
The issue is there isn’t a really equitable way to distribute them. I mean if the judging panel isn’t even going to be the same for those levels competing against each other for a bid—how can you ensure the “best” team got the bid? As indicated in the NCA thread, arena A was scored much lower arena B. How can you determine the winner of a paid bid between arenas if the scoring isn’t consistent?
I really don't think it would and I think Worlds is a good example of that. It's gotten easier and easier to get a bid over the years and yet it still holds a large appeal. As more and more Summit bids continue to be offered each year (which is inevitable), the odds of getting a bid will go up. Now, it probably won't get to the point of Worlds, but I think the percentage of teams that get bids will continue to rise. And I don't think the appeal of going to Summit will decline with that.
