I get really upset when I think about this possibly happening. I really just hate the idea of changing the name of the sport. We're cheerleaders and I don't think i'd want to be called anything else.

Also, not to hijack but i've been starting to think why are we all trying so hard to convince people cheer is a sport? Yeah its annoying we don't get respect but I honestly can't imagine a court ruling changing peoples minds. Even if it becomes a true sport cheerleading as we know and love is going to change drastically.

I like the name allstar cheer. I mean what we do is a spin off of original cheerleading to some degree so I think a completely different name is..out there. And realistically, most of us would probably age out of the sport (not including open teams etc.) By the time the name could be changed and recognized globally. I also don't think that a name change is what is going to change the public's view of cheerleading. We have to make allstar known in genral. I remember once while with a friend I was complaining that my wrists were hurting. He said, "why, were you clapping to hard at practice?" Instead of huffing and puffing about how hard we work and how he just doesn't understand and walking away, I calmly whipped out my phone and played a panthers routine for him. I said, "let me see you run that routine a couple times and we'll see if you don't complain about YOUR wrists" after some silence he said "you never told me you did that. I have never seen cheerleading like that, only at school games and professional cheerleaders" anyway to moral is, let's change the view, not the name. Make allstar known to the general public.
Sorry this is so long and digging deeper into my thoughts than y'all wanna know o_O

Re-naming cheerleading is not okay with me because I have wayyy too many things that say "cheer" on them that I refuse to buy again.
lolol! I know you're serious but that is the best, most hilarious, argument against re-naming the sport I have ever seen. Love it

This is true...what would I do with all those shorts with cheer on the butt and the T-shirts? I can't even go there... Kingston delete the thread, this is compelling support for the name cheer. hahahaha :D

Truthfully this was just a more tongue in cheek kind of game. I would like cheer to be recognized as a sport. I would like universal scoring and one governing body but I do not think it would be possible to call cheer anything but umm cheer:confused: .
