You are NOT alone @justpeachy. I have heard quite a few stories first hand from the actual parents involved. The stories I heard were not the parents trying to bad mouth the gym, they were simply stating why they left & were at XYZ gym now. But every story I heard made me cringe. Just callous treatment of athletes, no care taken to spare an arhlete's feelings, kids feeling like mercenaries being moved from team to team, not getting to develop strong friendships bc there were just SO many teams they were on. Anyway, I KNOW that gyms DO NOT have to operate that way to be successful. Our gym is very very successful, and I know that athletes are treated with dignity.

I didn't name the gym. And we had an excellent experience at the gym we went to and left (in two months). In fact we should have stayed there.

While you didn't name the gym it's pretty obvious based on your picture.

I'm not disagreeing. Im just stating that just because you didn't say the gym doesn't mean that it isn't known.

No. And I'm not implying that the poster did anything wrong--she stated she didn't name the gym which is true but obviously quite a few posters were able to figure it out.

It was pretty obvious which gym it was, but you were the first person in this conversation to actually name the gym.

I was able to figure it out because I know the poster from a long time ago and where she said she was from back then.

She actually said she went to another gym for a brief period so if anyone didn't know where she was from before they shouldn't be able to know exactly if that was a pic from the other gym versus the one she is talking about.

Her picture doesn't matter, the reason so many people know what gym she is talking about is because that is the only high profile gym that has been discussed for many many years about their high usage of crossovers when it doesn't seem necessary. Had she posted anonymously with no pic and only the anonymous name I still think most everyone would know exactly who she is talking about. So her pic has nothing to do with it I think.


I know there is plenty of people who love it there, they love crossing over and they love the environment and the quality teams they put out and we all know that.
She is allowed to give her experience though, wether we know who the gym is or not.
I hate what her child went though.:(

I think my post is being misconstrued. My point was only to let the poster know that while she didn't name the gym (and I'm sure that was deliberate) that others will know the gym, which she might not have expected. No judgement on my part. Just a heads up.

I tell ya, if I had been that team mom and had been saddled with the crappy job of bearing that news, I'd resign on the spot.

And going back a few pages, but the concept of a having a kid come onto a team to scare the other athletes into "improving" is nuts. What parent would allow their child to be used in such a way?

Having been a team mom, I disagree. But I understand the environment at the gym that's being discussed might have made it very difficult.

My child was used once this way. I was asked if she would come to another team's practice. I assumed it was because my child had been doing well and was being considered to move to a high profile team in the gym. She was only 7 at the time so I didn't know all the cheer politics.

After the practice when the coach didn't follow up with me I reached out and asked how it went. I was curious if she needed to attend any more practices for the new team. I was told my child did fine and nothing else. The next day I learned from a parent on that team who was my friend that my child and another were both brought to that practice to fly in her daughter's place as a scare tactic. I had no idea that my child was not being seriously considered for the team. My child had been excited for the opportunity and was disappointed that she wasn't asked to return to the practice. As a parent I might have done things differently if I had known but honestly I was 100% drinking the Kool-Aid in those early years.

Nope, it's not. I would have walked out of warmups on the spot if I had to. NO WAY am I treating a child that way, EVER or participating in allowing someone else to.
