I know it's a bit of a weird time to get music done, but our first comp is in June and I"m just getting our music organised. I'm going for a 'stronger/strength' theme with Christina's 'Fighter' as our dance music and I'd like to have Pink's 'Perfect' in there as well as a Whitney song. What suggestions do y'all have that would be good to fit this theme but haven't been done to death this season? Cheers

Well goodness "What doesn't kill you.." by Kelly Clarkson just fits right in there but done to death is an understatement! Look up some Avril Lavigne or mix it up with some older rock like Nirvana. Just to throw some ideas out there:
Disney Channels teen shows all have great upbeat music.
Anything by Sai and Adele is beautiful for pyramids.
The Donnas, old school Queen Latifah or Missy Elliot may have some edgy older stuff.

I could go into all kinds of genres. What sound/style do you prefer the most?

Stronger - Britney Spears
I am Woman - Jordin Sparks
Country Strong- Gwyneth Paltrow
A Fighter - Gwyneth Paltrow
Respect - Melanie Amaro

I think that theres some really cool songs out there with amazing elements perfect for routine music. some could be-
beautiful (drop dead)- britney Spears (PERFECT dance music, jealous of anyone who uses it)
set fire to the rain-adele
maybe some 80's rock somewhere in there, as long as it all is edited very well, it can work out!
I would say Stronger by Kelly Clarkson, but it really is overused.

Isn't it just. It completely fits with our theme though which is SO disappointing. We've come through so much c**p this last 6 months that it has made everyone on the squad fight for things and made them stronger. I wish it wasn't used so much but I have thought of Destinys Child 'Survivor' which also fits really well with our theme.

I think I want to try and stick with female singers and empowering songs, kinda upbeat and uplifting. I have such a shocking memory for things, you would think a music teacher wouldn't have much problem for coming up with a song list ;) I also have :
Faith Hill - Breathe
Shania Twain - From This Moment or You're Still the One
Take That - Rule The World or Patience (Breaking the all female line up cos I have been in love with TT for 20 years!!)

Didn't CA Panthers use it last year as their dance music, I think they did IIRC.

You get a shimmy for loving Take That :-)

Yep CA panthers danced to Drop Dead Beautiful last year, my senior 2 does this year!

Kanye West - Stronger (the underlying chorus only, none of the rest of it works)

I think the chorus of Fly by Rihanna and Nicki Minaj could work well with this type of theme
