"sports medicine" is a very.... broad topic. it's not really a major per say but a focus i suppose if that makes sense. I think what you need to do is look more specifically at what you are interested in doing. If your focus, for example, is "sports medicine for athletes" (since you said not physical therapy) then that would be something along the lines of what I'm doing, which is athletic training. I work with our sports teams at the university, where I get hands on experience with prevention and treatment, amongst our other domains. I do their rehabs, which include different areas like modalities and strengthening exercises, as well as tape, evaluate, do emergency care if necessary, doctors referrals, etc. I cover all their practices and games. I can give you more details if you'd like, but that's a brief run down. there's so many options you have to choose from though, depending on what you want your focus to be.
