I gotta laugh at them using the Varsity scoresheet for an event with this many teams. The raw scores are so similar it's as if everyone is doing the same routine when in fact they are often quite different.
So many teams are practically tied, you wonder if the placements/scores really mean anything and if the judges even know what order they're ranking the teams. If you're behind by 0.03 or 0.1, what even is that? A fake eyelash being out of place? In Youth 1, the scores are like 96.63, 96.48, 96.48, 96.26, 96.26, 96.26, 96.11. So practically a 7-way tie. I wouldn't want to be a judge here.
Throwback to a few years ago, when the team I coached lost JAMfest by 0.4.. Because of earrings, which we specifically asked to be taken out and not taped about 17 times. Would've won by .1 otherwise [emoji2360] lesson learned lol!I gotta laugh at them using the Varsity scoresheet for an event with this many teams. I’m actually kind of ok with this. I like that their scoring the routines rather than ranking them at least.I gotta laugh at them using the Varsity scoresheet for an event with this many teams. What is lowest age band for Summit? Youth?
What is usually the end of year comp for your Minis then? I know some are done after NCA.

I get it, I just think that comparative scoring is more biased. I’d rather see tie breakers than judges ranking... but it is a matter of opinion completely. The nature of judged sports is to make comparisons. And it's harder to make comparisons if there's no room to do so and a lot of teams are scoring practically the same thing. Teams are getting separated by ridiculously small margins like 0.02 or 0.03 that don't really mean anything.
College gymnastics has complained of something similar where they judge on a 10 point scale, and just about every routine scores above 9.7. They end up with a lot of ties and questionable rankings because they're trying to score dozens of gymnasts within a minuscule 0.3 range, which is virtually impossible. Sometimes a gymnast will get a 9.95 and a gymnast later on will be noticeably stronger, but there's no room to give her a higher score unless they award a perfect 10. The job of the judges is very difficult when the range is that small. The cheerleading scoresheet is similar where it feels like they're scoring way too many teams within a small 2 or 3 point range on a 100 point scale.
You just hope the judges know what they're doing with all these tiny decimal points and can get it right so the results make sense.
They didn't finish posting some of yesterday's scores/placements until about an hour ago or so. Not sure what takes some divisions so long or if there's any reason for it.I get it, I just think that comparative scoring is more biased. I’m also super curious if anyone knows a few things. Why haven’t they posted SSC4.2 semis yet? Does anyone know who moved on? And also does anyone know what happened to/with RS Red Hot Chili Peppers in sscr5?
Oh man, that’s too bad. It looked like they didn’t make it to finals...what a shame if the lights affected them. I haven’t really seen them this year, but I’ve definitely enjoyed their performances in the past. They didn't finish posting some of yesterday's scores/placements until about an hour ago or so. The lights went off during Chili Peppers performance.
