All-Star Team Try Outs And New Age Grid

Why do people have tryouts in March? Are non-worlds teams done competing already?

Children need a tiny break.

Our youngest teams are done competing, the level 1s and 2s I think. The older teams have US Finals coming up and then of course, some of the teams have Worlds at the end of the month. I don't understand why teams have tryouts so early either, do they just want to beat everyone else? Like if I have tryouts in March, and you're trying to decide between my gym and another, you'll choose mine because tryouts are first?

We finished competing in February, NCA was our last comp. We had tplacements early this year because last year we only had 1 team and many of them developed new skills and are moving up a level and also had a bunch of new athletes who wanted to start, our original tryout date was going to be in April but it just made more since to split them now. For the first few months our all-stars only practice team once a week and it's a shorter practice. So they do get a brake from full out team practice, it's more of an introduction to the new skills or an intro to basics for our level 1.

I just don't get WHAT this was supposed to accomplish? Why move it up to 12, when junior just stays at 14? That kid can be on a youth team AND go to worlds..

I agree (and NOT just because my cp is now 12) There should be a definitive line between a youth team and worlds team. My cp has been on a youth team for 5 years now. She was so excited to finally age out, only to be told "well sweety so sorry but you have one more year" but honestly that's not even the main reason i have an issue with this. I am in total agreement with kristenthegreat ... how can you be eligible for both a youth team and a world's senior team? I understand a junior and senior but a youth a senior? seems a little off to me. *shrugs*

Our last competition was the first weekend in March. Our gym holds 2 separate tryouts for the non-Worlds kids, and another after Worlds for those athletes. We won't get the results for several weeks.

Kids are working like crazy perfecting skills in the weeks between the end of the season and tryouts. Our break comes in the weeks between trying out and actually getting team assignments.

I could have written this exact post (ok, my cp isn't 12 YET, but will be soon). No way she wants to be on a youth team when she is hoping to be on a worlds team.
