Ok just for the record. We did not compete against team you are talking about. We competed against the team they have in the school Rec division that competes UCA school comps.

Dinosaur All Stars... look out Craptastic. Looks like you've finally got some competition.

i'll join Dinosaur All Stars, so long as the uni's are dino suits

My understanding of rec divisions is that in order to be in the division you have to have limited practice. Don't know how many follow this rule but that is how it is determined. I know GA Heat runs a successful Rec program out of their gym and in order to be on the teams you must have cheered in rec that season.

I think there's a new "all star rec" division in the works, and limited practice might be part of it, but for traditional rec divisions, it really depends on the EP - some require a team to cheer on the sidelines for another sport, some require teams to be associated with a local Parks and Rec department or YMCA. None of these requirements have ever been enforced in my experience, and that's frustrating as a rec coach. It is really hard for my team of 25 girls that practices in a middle school gym with four 4x6 panel mats to be competitive with an all star team that decides to compete in a rec division. I mean, it can be done, but ha, try working on interesting transitions when you only have cones to mark the edges of a competition floor, and never being able to do a routine full out until the day of competition because there's no way 25 kids can fit onto those panel mats to do all stunts, tosses and tumbling at the same time. (Our pyramids are always tight because at least we can fit those on the panel mats, lol).

I really don't understand what defines "rec" and I wish there was more clarification.

Locally, there is a team that started out as pop warner. They cheered pop warner football games and competed at their respective state, regional, and national championships. When their true rec season ended, the entire team went to a local all star gym and continued practicing. They gave themselves a new name, added/got rid of some team members and began competing under the all star gym's name in the rec division. Now, are they still a rec team? What constitutes them being a recreational sport? Some of them cheered for football, but not all. They started out as a true rec. team, but then they became more of a half year all star team.. except they kept the same routine so wouldn't that just make them a true, year round team? I just don't get it.
