2 kids and 3 teams = 3 plane rides and 2 drives of 6+ hours. (We are not going to Summit or Worlds)
Most teams at our gym fly once and drive 6 hours once. The rest of the competitions are within 1-2 hours drive.
It's really going to depend on where you are located and where the competitions are located in your area.

Not sure I can give you an accurate season cost since it definitely varies from team to team in our gym. This year was probably the most expensive I have ever had but one of my kids was on a team that did a lot of travel.

Small town, first year gym. Three 1 day comps. ( 2 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours). Three 2 day comps 4.5 hours away, and one 2 day flight comp. ( this is driveable, but is 9-10 hour drive) tuition $200- $175/ month-with multiple child discount. No crossover fees this year. For fundraising letter I estimated between $6000-$8000/ yr, including uniforms etc.

3 travel comps - two 4 hour drives (Portland and Canada) and one flight to Anaheim.

I estimate that total cost excluding hotels and flight is approximately $4000

......what
Rec team on a military base. These kids have often had pretty tough lives. We try to help them learn about the sport and gain a sense of team and family, at least for as long as their families are stationed here. Keeping the costs low helps to bolster participation. I work hard to learn as much as possible to improve as a coach because these kids deserve an all star experience even though they cannot afford all star prices on military salaries. :)

that's so wonderful that you are able to do this! may i ask, though, how on earth the gym is able to foot the bill if they are not making much income?

What you're doing is incredible for such a low cost, but how are you able to have the gym pay the competition fees? I've never ever heard of this before

Drove to ATL twice (4 total hotel nights)
Drove to Indy (4 nights hotel)
Flew to Dallas (5 nights hotel stay because our flight was cancelled on Monday)
Drove to Orlando (split a house...)
Will drive to Myrtle Beach (1 or 2 nights hotel stay, not sure yet)
Will drive to ATL again (3 nights hotel stay)
Will drive to Orlando again for Worlds (5 nights hotel stay) (CP will fly with her team)

I'm with those who don't want to know how much $$$$. My hubby says this has been the most expensive year we've had too!

Guess we will be seeing you in Myrtle next week! Praying for beautiful weather!!!

Let's see. Three in Atlanta (2-3 nights each), one in Nashville (4 nights), one in Indianapolis (3 nights), one in Dallas (5 nights), one in Columbia (2 nights), two at Disney (UCA and Summit total of 6 nights), and one in Myrtle Beach (3 nights). Plus countless local ones. We only flew to Dallas but we probably should have flow to at least 3 more of them. I'm pretty tired.

No gym. We use youth sports facilities on base and have rolls of foam mats that can be taped (yes, taped) together to make a 7 panel wide by about 24 feet deep total floor... If any all star gym with a nine panel floor wants to donate an hour or two to the team before our next comp, please contact me, lol - that's the hardest part - getting kids to understand spacing with a completely different sized floor (when added to the normal stresses of comps and the fact that they never practice on spring floors).

Other overhead costs of the program are paid for by the youth sports program (funded in large part by donations). I am strictly a volunteer and pay for all of my training and certification on my own dime. It is totally worth it to me. I'm certain I get more out of this gig than I give, and I'm thankful for that.
