Keep in mind that we are not in a very cheer heavy, competitive area. I split sideline by grade, and comp by talent. I think sideline is more important for building relationships and cheering for friends, not being able to throw hard skills. To be honest, I don't put anything very difficult into a halftime because if it has ANY risk of falling it's not going in... Most people watch cheer just to see if someone falls and have no concept of difficulty. It's just not worth it. Nobody is going to be like "Wow, those kick full looked great!" but they will be the first to say "I SAW YOU FALL!"

Kids have more fun when they are with their friends. If I need their talent on Varsity, I make sure they have the opportunity to be with their friends still on sideline and get the best of both worlds.
