As many of you may know I have gotten out of coaching for various reasons. We moved, I am starting my ministry and I feel I can do more to help the industry through judging. I am not gonna lie, I do have ambitions of becoming a member of the USASF. I feel not being a coach nor an event producer I can be totally unbiased. I truly want this sport to grow. I feel the USASF can see this happen. It will take getting both coaches and athletes in the system and certified. I also think this year with two of the bigger events revamping their scoring was a great step in unifying the industry as a whole. I would like for this thread to be a proposal thread. Let me know what would like to see change. It can be a rule, it can be dress, it can be anything. You can email me privately or put them on here. Nobody will take offense, this is for the betterment of the sport. Maybe we can go into next year and put forth further changes that can help this industry. This is for the small gym owner or coach, it is for the big gym owner, it is for everyone. I am both convinced that we all share some of the same concerns and that together we can only help. So send em out, think about it, send em to me. Also open for any discussions as well!

Please make sure the ideas are formally sent in so they can get on the voting slate in the future.

Yes definitely. I know I have been asked here lately about different ideas. I figured this would be a good place to kick around ideas then put them all together and then have them sent in correctly.

Crossover rules are a big concern of mine. No athlete should be able to cross to more than one team, and may not cross over more than one level. For example, if an athlete competes for a level 3 team, they may only compete for one other team in level 4 or level 2. Any team may not be made up of more than 15% crossovers.

2. Eliminate the athlete release requirement, or at the very least, change the rule so the gym owner does not have sole power. Athletes should be able to leave a gym at any time. At the most, there should be a 30 day waiting period to compete with another gym at a USASF event.

3. Change the Worlds roster rule regarding substitutions (which will decrease the need to have an athlete release requirement). The team that won the bid must be the same roster with the exception of 3 alternates for small teams, 5 for medium teams and 6 for large teams. In addition, an athlete may only be on the roster of one paid bid team, meaning if an athlete is on a roster of a team that has won a bid, they may not compete for a different team and win another bid. This gives room for injuries, etc. but prevents teams from stacking to get a bid or athletes jumping from one Worlds team to another.

I have these written up and ready to start the process. Is there any more? Gonna give it a week! This is good. A lot of people have this as an issue and like the idea.

The only problem I have with the above is extremely small gyms. If this rule was in place last year my CP would not have been able to cheer because there weren't enough athletes at her level to make a team where only 15% crossed over.

What if they rearranged the first team? This is a major concern as far as percentages. I like the idea of no athlete doing no more than two teams at any one event. Just a thought. Percentages are hard. That's why I brought this up here.

I like all 3. As stated above I wonder about the percentage. For small gyms of say 35 athletes. That's why I like the 2 per event rule. Just a thought.

We had 10 mini aged athletes. 6 of the 10 were really level 3 and the other 4 were true level 1. We had about 6 true level 2 youth aged athletes. We couldn't have been competitive with the 4 level 1 minis on youth 2, and it wouldn't have been fair to make what were really level 3 athletes compete on a youth 1 as their only team. Only 2 of the youth aged girls were old enough for senior 2. So we had 12 youth 2 athletes, 6 of whom also competed mini 1 with the 4 true level 1 girls. I don't know how else we could have worked it and been at all competitive and fair to everyone's skill set. No one was on more than 2 teams or moved more than 1 level and everyone for to be on a team with a shot at being competitive.

I see what your saying. This is a big issue for small gyms. How do you feel about crossovers being on no more than 2 teams per comp.?
